Full Version: New Nikon full frame D700 rumor out of nowhere

So I got an email today, and have no idea if it is true, but the rumors are picking up steam, and it looks like we only have to wait about 4 days to see if it is true. It would make since that Nikon would put out another full frame camera, inbetween the D3 and D300. I hope it's true, because I have 240,914 clicks on my D2x and really don't want to shell out 5K for the D3. Here is the link.

If this is true, I will probably have a lot of Canon gear for sale!!!

If I wasn't so heavily invest in Nikon, I would be with Canon in a heartbeat. I had to rent the D3, and while it is sweet, much improved over the D2x, I wasn't blown away by the higher iso. Don't get me wrong, I loved the camera, just even at 3200 there was some Noise, but hey, I can't even go above 640iso on my D2x.

It's a hoax....the photo was ps'd

I don't think so. Goggle D700 rumors. There are too many articles from legit sources, backing this up.

There have been rumors about a full frame D300 but that pic that's been circulating was ps'd. I guess it wouldn't surprise me but why go from 300-700? Are they planning on infilling like 400, 500, 600 as they upgrade the 300? I"d love a full frame Nikon, but it's still not in my budget.

I bring you... this.. http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/readflat...mp;changemode=1 (I am a bit doubtful of the article but i still stand by a full frame nikon released in time for the olympics.)

Jeez, and is this RIGHT IN TIME FOR THE FREAKIGN OLYMPICS?!? Jeez, it's like someone's been saying that for a while... oh wait, that was me.

Nikon d700 for the olympics.

Now when the 5d mII comes out either just before the olympics or at photokina I want my darn cookie for being such a good snoop!

Unconfirmed predictions (a.k.a. shady sources):
Oh and if the Nikon D3x/D3n gets announced with a 34mp cmos sensor with that being a sony sourced sensor I'll pleasantly happy. Also if a D3h gets released with an 8mp nikon designed "full color" sensor capable of 15fps using this patent I'll be shocked, though i'd bet it will pop up within a year or 3.

Apparently it's real..

not that I'll be able to afford either.. o.O But it is something to look forward to when I do get the money. (o.O). I can see Nikon continuing with the DX line to appease the consumers (cheap, small, fills the niche very well), but what about the pros? Think we'll all go FX eventually? Hmm!

I think weddings will go back to medium format, that's what I think. PhaseOne body and P20+ back would be my ideal setup (as of now) and right now clocks in at $12,990 with $600 ish for a 80mm 2.8 that sure is damn enticing... if only I had the money.

Scott Kelby wrote about it in case you Nikonians are interested =)

24-70 2.8
70-200 2.8 VR

I think those should get the job done.

You're making me jealous. I want the 3 kings!! Actually I may be picking up the 24-70 soon. But I really think the 24-70 and 70-200 is a killer combination. If you have any money left over, think of me!! tongue.gif
MikeRichards
Money left...what's that? lol

Actually I had about 1K left over after selling my Canon gear but I am using that to pay down some debt...that was one of the main ideas. I had hoped to have over 2K but that 14-24 was calling my name!

Ok ok. Well since you went Nikon, you're pretty okay in my book! thumbsup.gif

BTW, where did you happen to find the 24-70mm? BH seems to be perpetually out of stock. Shop local?
MikeRichards
