Full Version: Pricing ~ Do I?

Like many of you who raise their pricing I have certain questions about it, and whether I'm in the ballpark of where I should be at.

I'm now leaning towards doing packages, rather than the "shoot & burn" that I have been doing. My company is growing and I'v come to a huge reality check that my current pricing is just not making me any $$, and want to afford the growth. As well, I would like to do 2/3rds the weddings, to free up for other work I enjoy.

So I have attached a copy of "maybe" pricing that I have pulled together. Any thoughts by peers would be sooo greatly appreciated.

I'm going sans-packages for now. What I did is create an a la carte price sheet with my services, then as I talk with couples I put together a package that fits their needs. The immediate benefit of this is it doesn't turn people away right off because I'm above or below their price range, and I'm not including something that's they do not want.

The secondary benefit is that we build a package that is full of things that they value highly, which means their budget expands to accomodate all those valuable items.

Theres a lot to be said for ala carte or the package approach. We have a combination of both, one because its easy for brides to quickly compare (good or bad) offerings when they are hastily surfing the net. Be aware that as you raise your prices, you are potentially leaving your referral base behind.

I think your market can handle that.

I am confused about the last package though - is it a Monday-Friday special (i.e. you won't do short Saturday weddings?) I'd think that with a 3 hour package, you could fit two weddings in a day.

Is the printout your whole price sheet? Maybe I have no idea about your market. So basically if I am a bride and want to have pictures of my whole wedding day, I only have one option for 5k with a bunch of stuff I may or may not want? If I were a bride, I wouldn't like those options, but again, I have no idea about your market.

This is based on brides I have met with, so take this as just a local experience, but it probably holds in other areas too. My brides are pretty unique and most of the time want something different than any other bride with a few exceptions. For 2 quick changes that I think will appeal to more brides for you, I would:
1) List my highest package first
2) Create a 4th package that has the full coverage without all the extras.

Also, what does "make images high res" mean? Are you saying that you are going to give them a high res disc? If so, that could be clearer.

Thank you ALL!

This is just a rough of off my head pricing. I'm going to included a "Bulid Your Own" menu list as well. All your comments are appreciated.

With the 3 Hour package, it will be only Sunday thru Friday.... I offered this type a while back and was wasting prime Summer dates on 3 hours... no way will I do that again! Since most brides get married at 2 pm (in this area).

Mike: "you are potentially leaving your referral base behind." Thank you for this, makes sense, and is really something to consider. Valuable statement!

Thanks again, I will revise this post when I have something.
