I am editing in Lightroom. Every once in a while I export an image to Photoshop and work on it. Then I save the changes I made in Ps, at which point normally the changes I made in Ps are now visible in Lr. Except today, every time I hit save in Ps, Lr shuts down. I get a message saying Lr has shut down unexpectedly and would I like to relaunch? Yes I do, I wait for it to relaunch, and then the exact same thing happens with the next image when I save n Ps. Probably happened 15 times today.

If anyone has any insight or advice I'd love to hear it!

Thanks... huh.gif

While I cannot give you any insight, you are not alone. It happens to me all the time. I purchased via Adobe as a download like a dummy and I have contacted CS with no luck!

So good luck and maybe someone will be more help! But it has happened to me twice tonight while proofing and several times yesterday! ARGH! wacko.gif

Need more info... What system MAC or PC? Vista or XP? What PS are you using?

What version of Lightroom? if not 1.4.1, you may want to do the update and see what happens. Make sure you have updated PS too.

Is it happening with just one image? Have you try others?

When you are done with the changes in PS, how are you saving the images? Check to make sure you haven't change the fie type by accident to one that is not supported by LR.

Have you try reinstalling it?

Have you installed anything after recently? (specially on a PC)

Also, you may want to browse Adobe PS forums to see if anyone else is experiencing that problem.

But what I don't understand is, how buying it as a download makes anyone a dummy? The only difference is that you don't have a box. Everything else is the same.

I know whats causing it - I have had it happen twice.
There is one image that is corrupt - you have to isolate it and get rid of it (not using lightroom because it won't let you get that far) Frankly it's a real B*tch to find, but once it's gone - you'll be okay.
I don't know how you set your lightroom up. I (being a bit paranoid) prefer to have an individual catalogue for each wedding which makes it a bit easier. I found I had to start a new catalogue for that client and then reimport the images bit by bit - time consuming, and if you can think of a quicker way then let me know.
Once you've found the corrupt file it will start crashing again - dump the bad image from every place it exists and then start a new catalogue for that client. Not fun, but it works.

Thanks for the help so far.

I'm on an iMac and have Lr 1.4.1 and Ps CS3. When I finish editing in Ps, I just hit "apple s" to save. Ps then shows that it is writing the tiff file. Then Lr shuts down and I get the error message.

It was not just one image, but 15 or so different images from 2 different shoots.

I will try and look for a corrupt file and delete it.

Strangely, I have not had any problems so far this morning when doing the same thing that was causing Lr to crash repeatedly yesterday.

If it starts happening again I will uninstall and reinstall Lr and browse Adobe's forums for help.

Thanks again... smile.gif

Well it's good that you can isolate it down to 15 shots - it won't take too long to find. Mine was more like 2000 - wacko.gif
