I recently did a shoot for a new restaurant for a friend of mine who is the owner and chef. He only wanted images for his website but I still own the copyright for the images. A large magazine here wants to do a feature on the restaurant and saw the images and wants to use them. What are the guidelines here for compensation?

Congrats, Graeme! There are price calculators if you search editorial photography licensing calculator or something like that. Here's one!

i am the photo editor at backpacker magazine and have also worked at outside and skiing magazines. prices for usage are determined by circulation of the magazine. photo quote is a program for photographers to figure out page prices.

Julia's right. I also work for a group of magazines and there are set space rates for each magazine depending on the circulation. Be sure to ask about web rights if they have online version of the magazine.
