I have 2 sb 800 flashes, and two sc29 cords. (I think they are sc29, it's the one with the infared thing on it.)
Anyway, at a wedding in Jan, my flash started flickering.... not being fired by me. I had it mounted on a strobo frame with the cord. It kept flickering like a strobe. It was nearing the end of the reception, and I changed out my cord.... no problems the rest of the night, or the next or the next 6 weddings.
Last Sat, it started flickering again. Now, did my second cord go bad? Or is it a flash problem? Any one have a "flickering" flash? I think this is still my second cord that I changed to at the Jan wedding. I haven't tried the other cord since, and I haven't replaced it. I am thinking I better order another cord before my next wedding, but just wondering if anyone has experienced this type of behavior.

I have gone through about 6 SB800, I tend to over heat them with my happy fingers. Anyway, I would say from my experice that you have a loose connection in your hotshoe or flash mount, or in your cord. I would say that it is the first suggestion. Send it in to Nikon to be looked at.

Thanks Ross,
The problem I have is that I have 2 flashes, and I use both of them. I don't know which one was giving me problems! I usually have one on my cord and strobo frame. The other one starts out right on my second camera (no cord and bracket) and then moves to a stand for off camera light at the reception. So, there is no problem off camera. Hmmm.... Maybe I better pick up a third while I try to figure this out.
