I understand HDR is a process where different exposures are combined to provide for a richer image.

Some are very realistic... Erik Almas comes to mind.


Others have a very sharp, contrasty, charcoal-y, super saturated look. Kind of like that TRA magic glasses action. Are these also considered HDR??

Hi Chelo-

I would say yes. There is such a range to what you can achieve using HDR processing. I think the surreal effect ala David Nightingale is what most people think of when they think HDR, but it can also be used in a way that looks more realistic.
