Hi all,

This may have been asked on another thread but I figured I'd ask again. So I received an email from a Flower vendor who served one of my wedding clients last year...here it is:

"I did the flowers for xxxx and xxxx wedding and would like to get some prints as well as a CD to be able to use the photos for the new website we're doing. We will of course include credits for you. What would be the best way to order?"

So I'm pretty much against just giving out my work for nothing but a credit....how have you all dealt with this issue and what kind of compensation have you asked for in return?

Thanks!

Give it to them! I would never ever charge a vendor for prints of their work. In fact, I seek them out and give them prints and images of their stuff on cd all the time. smile.gif It's quite a common practice and I think you'll find way more often than not photographers just give the images. It's a great way to create good relations.

I totally agree with just giving them to them! They will have your name on their site, which their brides will see. They will know about your service and ability to provide great prints and how quick you can be. They will refer you to everyone!! "These great photos were by xxxx" "Aren't they great?!"

I always ask my brides (couples) which vendors they use, and I choose a few photos to send to each vendor. I include a personal note stating how much I enjoyed "working with them" (if it applies) or "love their work, and look forward to future events"

The fact that they have contacted you, is like "jackpot"! Give give give.

My only concern would be about a disk of the wedding... be selective that only the neccessary ones end up on the disk. Be sure to add your signature in the corner if you wanted.

Good luck!

I will just give it to them but my logo must stay on them.

I wouldn't put my logo in the corner either. What vendor wants a site full of logo'ed images from a bunch of different photographers? It would get kinda messy after awhile.

When I give them images, I'm not looking for the bride who stops by that vendor's website and maybe sees my name. I'm looking for a personal referral from that vendor to a bride because that is going to go so much farther than just seeing a random picture on a vendor's website. It's all about building the relationships with the vendors and getting them to refer you out to the bride.
