Not enough people are using these guys that's for sure. Not that I want EVERYONE to start - but enough that they always stay in business.

Why do I love DNL?

1) Great products - we use their CD187, CD174 (awesome!) and their keepsake proof box (black box, holds 600 proofs, looks fab!!)

2) Great shipping times - we get our orders fairly quickly - no worries there.

3) Fast fast fast and did I say FAST easy ordering? You call them. You spend 2 minutes on the phone.

Here's my latest order, verbatim.

"Hi, I need to order some products."
"Have you ordered from us before?"
"Yes, we're Picture Infinity Studios in Syracuse NY"
"Thank you what can I get for you?"
"3 Keepsake proof boxes, 4 CD174 and 3 CD 187"
"Thank you we'll get that right out."

END CALL.
I swear I spent less than 90 seconds on the phone with the nicest lady ever and my stuff will be here probably Friday, if not Monday now.

(This is an example of a photographer sharing a secret he probably shouldn't but can't help himself)

ETA: I should say - the above conversation is *verbatim* every order I've ever placed with them. It's phenomenal.

I agree. They are awesome.

Just remember to ask them for a final total (if you want it) I always forget and they don't tell me before getting off the phone.

DNL is great. I needed to order some stamped folders from them, and I'd be hard pressed to figure out a way that it would have been easier. And the delivery time was really fast, too.

I just ordered some brag books and chocolate boxes from them a couple of weeks ago after checking out OSP recommendations....Love them!

We got our boxes that we use for print packaging. Ordering was easy, items as described, nothing negative to say at all about them.

Angel, do you like the brag books? I get all my boxes from DNL...they rock!
Melody
I do love D&L...

But, playing Devils Advocate - no matter how many times I ask they will NOT pack my boxes with paper padding instead of styrofoam peanuts. I live in the VERY HUMID south, when I open my packages from them - the styrofoam peanuts are stuck to the boxes EVERY SINGLE TIME. I have to sit and pick them off, wipe off the residue with a damp towel, count how many I can't salvage, call them back, have them replace those, get the second shipment - more peanuts - more picking/cleaning/counting - decide it's not worth it to even call them to tell them I STILL have that issue (which they swear is not an issue) and deal with the fact that I get 10-15 less usable boxes than what I ordered - with every shipment.

While I love the product, I wish they'd ship it to me sans-peanuts like I ask them to. It's a really big PITA.

Love DNL but have to agree with Melody in regards to their shipping charges. I had found the same CD case [the one with the outside and inside photo pockets] but the cost difference for outweighed the DNL shipping charges and their excellent customer service...

+1, love DNL! Order a few cases a time time, you know you'll use them.

I have really been pleased with their products but I am glad I am not the only one who was a little surprised with their shipping costs. I admit I should have asked, but when I placed my order I am surprised they don't actually tell you the total, so you have an idea of what shipping is going to cost. Again, I know I should have asked myself, but I figured it would be somewhere in line with the other companies from whom I have ordered who have to ship their goods.

Hi to everyone,
This is my first post I hope it doesn't get too long. My name is Donald Levine and I am the GM of DNL Photo Packaging. I want to thank everyone for their kind words about our company. I would also like to address some peoples concerns about our shipping costs.

Shipping charges are a necessary evil in business. We do not make money on our shipping charges. We do work on tight margins and therefore are unable to subsidize shipping costs. We ship almost exclusively with UPS and our business is located in Southern California.

Matt started this thread so I would like to break down his shipping charges for anyone interested. We shipped Matt $119.85 worth of products in what turned out to be a 10lb box. We charged Matt $16.04 for shipping.

We shipped a 10lb box from California to New York for $16.04. Within that $16.04 are some basic UPS fees.
  1. Residential Delivery Fee $1.95
  2. Delivery Confirmation Fee $2.50
  3. Fuel Surcharge of 8.5%
  4. Rural Area Surcharge $2.30 (not aplicable with this shipment)
I feel this is a reasonable amount to charge for shipping. Unfortunately what often happens is a customer will order only $40.00 worth of merchandise and the freight costs can still be around $15.00. This seems like expensive freight on a $40.00 order but freight costs and merchandise costs have no bearing on each other. For example we could have shipped Matt some electronic gizmo that cost $7000.00 and freight still would have been $16.40. We sell products that cost .24 each, so sometimes our shipping charges seem expensive.

If anyone would like to discuss this further, please do not hesitate to reply or call me @ 800-845-9435.

Donald Levine
