Full Version: Help fixing my Outlook?!

Okay, my struggle has gone on too long!!! I need help!

I have a Blu website, hosted by Blu, and have my email through my website. When I initially set up my site, I set it up through Outlook (PC) and also had it routed to my Blackberry. Worked fine, then went down around the same time the Blu server went down last year. Email came back up, shortly, but down again. Got it back up and running, but ever since, I cannot send out (or respond to) mail. I can receive only.

I can receive emails (to my computer via Outlook as well as my Blackberry) but I cannot return or create a new outgoing email through Outlook. I've looked, and double-checked to see if I set up Outlook as I am supposed to, and according to Blu's directions, I have. I've sent help tickets, with no assistance.

This is just way too long to go without being able to respond to my work emails, and I'm getting tired of routing my photography emails to my hotmail simply so I can respond.

Can anyone help me - either by posting here or shooting me a pm - on how to set up my outgoing email in Outlook?!?!? I'd be eternally grateful. I know a handful of other Blu customers who have had this same problem, and were told it was "their server" or "their area" but I don't buy that since (a) it used to work fine; and (b) other Blu users around me have no problems. I know it can be fixed, I just need the steps to do it!!

Thanks in advance.

To answer a question I got by email - yes this is a PC - and not mac. I have contacted Blu and they told me it was not their issue. I followed all instructions on setting up the pop server, but think the problem is just a simple as changing a setting.

Seriously guys, any help is appreciated! I've heard others mumble about this at meetings, so I know it has happened to others and can be fixed - I just need a quick tutorial. Anyone willing to save me from an incurable insanity?! 51.gif

Sorry I can't directly help you, but can share in the misery with you.

I think it is a stupid PC thingy! My outlook went all wacko quite a few months back (sort of same problems as you) & I tried everything to get it working other than deleting & reinstalling it. I also had others try to fix it & it was a no go. I don't have a blu site.

I am now getting/sending all my emails via web not my outlook. It's very annoying.

I have one word for you...

Thunderbird

I replaced MS outlook with Thunderbird almost 3 years ago with NO issues on my end...

Under Outlook, you'll need to go to Tools -> Accounts - View or Change Exisiting Accounts then clicke 'Next'.

From there you edit the Outgoing POP server to whatever Blu provided you with.

I'm not on a PC right now so I can't really go throught the entire steps with you. wacko.gif

Thank you guys. I really appreciate you taking the time to help me.

So far, nothing is working. Billy, I've gone to Tools, and re-did the steps to set up the Pop3 server per Blu directions. No luck. I can receive email. I cannot respond/send.

When I attempt to send, this is the message I get: "Your SMTP server has not responded in 60 seconds. Would you like to wait another 60 seconds for the server to respond?"

I have changed the time, and the only difference is the 60 seconds changes to 90, etc. For some reason, it is not connecting, even though my incoming mail is fine, as is my internet connection.

The only other panel that my be a part of this, is the Server Port Numbers. My outgoing mail (SMTP) box is default to 25; my Incoming mail (pop3) is default to 113. Does this make a difference?

Any help is greatly appreciated!! I NEED MY EMAIL. Thanks guys!

(Mike, I might just have to look into Thunderbird. Thank you for that suggestion!)

Hey Tana- I had this problem for a while- not the same error message, but couldn't send out. Had a computer guy work on it and told me to check with my computer service people and they had to open up a port for me! I think it was port 26. (Not 100% about that...I should have written it down!) Either way, I called them, they were awesome, they had to monkey around with a few things, but opened up a port that worked and I now am good to go. They said they kept the port closed because of spam and ended up having to route it through another e-mail address they created for me, that then filtered into mine...or something nuts like that. Either way, it works and I'm happy! So---call your service provider and ask if they have 25 blocked/ closed/ whatever since that is your outgoing and ask if they can help you get through the mess. Good luck!
