Full Version: Creating a border for images on a blog

Sorry if this question already has been asked before (and I didn't really quite know if this was the best category to stick it in), but I'm looking to start adding borders with my personal logo on to my images with the launch of a new blog-site.

Any tips on the best way to go about doing this? Should I create an action? And if so, how should I be sizing the border's frames?

Just looking for tips from all you who may already do this ... if anybody wants to also weigh in on adding a watermark instead of a frame to their blogged images (and the best way they've found to go about doing that) please do!

She has an awesome frame and watermark action; I love it. Plus it is free! She is a member here too.

And here's the link to Matt's tutorial on the same topic.

I just created a template for my newly sized blog pics! It has 10 extra pixels at the top and sides, and I believe about 60 on the bottom. On the bottom, i put my logo on one side, and my website address on the other.

I made two templates, one for horizontal pics, and one for vertical. All I do is bring the pic I wanna show, into Photoshop, do all my basic corrections, resize it, apply some sharpening, and then drag it over to the template. Take that and save for web. You can see examples over at my blog...

I know some people use an action for this, but i can't seem to ever make one that works for me.

Hope this helps

Matt's tutorial is great...and here's another step-by-step from a veteran here, Cory Parris:

So I'm loving this tutorial and can follow it easy enough, but I'm wondering why, whenever I attempt to run the action, I get all these messages popping up telling me that certain components of the action "aren't available" (ie, paste, copy, etc.) I'm fairly new to running actions, so am I doing something wrong???
Matt Antonino
Paste isn't available if you haven't hit copy, copy isn't available if you haven't made a selection. Basically it sounds like something messed up in the action and got saved that way. I would delete your action, rewatch the tutorial and just re-create the entire thing. smile.gif

This is the win. I have a friend who's a graphic designer, designing me a new logo as a favor (since I did pics for him..) and as soon as I get it, I am going to start using this method. Yay! I can't wait.
