I just created a site designed to track all photo blogs. Check it out and give me your feed back please. http://www.fotoggrafee.com/ This site is still being tweaked and any suggestions would be very helpful. Also if you would like your blog listed please drop me a line on the site.

Laird Nelson
Anyone mind giving me some feed back or critique? I would really appreciate it. Thanks

Personally I'm a bit confused as to that the site is about smile.gif

Why do you think it's spam? It's a legit site that I am trying to start by tracking all the best blogs posted by photographers. I swear it's not spam I won't come here post spam and have my account deleted.

well its hard to tell what it is - are you tagging photoblogs and then whenever they update their blog, it shows up on your site?

Well I am trying to create a site that tracks and promote blogs created by every type of photographer. It's still in the early stage and I hope to get it tweaked so that there will be no confusion on what the site is all about.

Exactly, that will be the main focus of the site but there are other functions and features available for members to network and promote their work and personal site.

So your goal is to build up a community by stealing other people's blog post and having your members look at your ads so you make money off of it?

What other functions and features are coming? I don't get it as it is now.

Wow harsh but I guess you have to take all feed back as they come. How is that stealing? I mean if someone don't want their blog there I would remove it asap. Also every blog has it's link and url thhere so that anyone reading can go to the site. There is nothing on that site that says any of the blogs belong to me or was written by me. The ads is just to help keep the site afloat I have yet to make any money from ads and I have other sites. I must be doing something wrong in that regard. And the other functions can only be experienced by joining the site.

i'm just not liking this concept at all. especially if you would be posting someone else's images.

Also, you can't really read the entire blog on my site you have to go to the blog to read the entire post.

The image pulled is only a 120 x 120 thumbnail that add a bit of eye candy. When you click that image it takes you right to the bloggers site.

Don't you think it would be wise to ask the photographers permission first. It's stealing because you are using their images on your site without their permission. Are you a photographer? I don't see a website in your profile. You are new to OSP, and the only website associated with you uses images from other people- very suspicious to me.

You know you do have a point and I will remove the blogs I have up now until i get premission. I guess I was just a bit excited and wanted to show what I had but you are right. I am just an amature potographer and i am trying to learn as much as I can from reading the posts here and on other sites. That is how I came up with the idea to have a site that is like a one stop shop for photo blogs. I just added a slide show of a few pic I took at my cousin's wedding. The pictures in the gallery are pictures I took. The only images that are not mine are those in the blogs.

smile.gif Laird,

Please take this as constructive feedback -- it's going to sound harsh, but I mean it in the best of intentions.

Your idea comes across as just another way to make money from the plethora (eg: mass of lemmings) that are discovering photography as a new or 2nd career. (THAT is a topic that has been beat to death on this forum!) biggrin.gif

While you're not charging anyone, having ads on the site are a money making deal for someone. smile.gif Your idea of a centralized location is a noble idea, but due to the nature of the web, you'll be fighting an extreme battle to keep up to date as photogs drop in and out of the helping each other out/making $$ selling stuff to newbies. smile.gif

There are already great photog sharing networks in existence, such as OSP and The Mosaic Group. Photographers (and wannabees) will find these sites eventually. smile.gif

These network sites often have resource pages already set up. I know the Mosaic Group has a good one for various vendors, and OSP has several threads going for photog blogs. smile.gif

Perhaps your efforts could be better directed into organizing those threads into a cohesive list on the respective networking boards -- making a good value for each group's membership. smile.gif

As you've already learned from this thread.... ALWAYS ask permission before reproducing anyone's work on your own sites.

so i just checked the site and you have taken down all the blogs and entries - does this mean ALL the people on there had not given you their permission?

Thank you Troy, I took it all as constructive feedback, I would never have put myself out there if I was afraid of the truth. I hear you about fighting an extreme battle but I am doing this because I truly believe I have something different to offer. If it don't work out then at least I tried smile.gif I have created a test account for anyone who would like to login and check things out just so you can see what else is there as a member.

User name = Test

Thanks for the feed back Troy and everyone else who also posted. I will continue to check for any other comments.

Nope, like I said in an earlier post I kind of jumped the gun and that may bite me in the butt now smile.gif but I wanted you guys to see i wasn't trying to steal or con anyone. I will be checking with photo bloggers to see if they would allow me to add their blogs to my site. If there is anyone here who would like their blog added please let me know. If I made anyone mad please accept my apologies because it was not my intent to do anything shady.

There are a plethora of sites that sort of do the same thing. Photos.vxfy does this and my personal photoblog is pictured there. Google logs images and I'm not sure that is a good thing or bad thing (leaning toward bad). Photoblog.org logs and tracks popularity. I do know that I've made accounts at the places that read the feed to my blog and then promote it by using my photos in some manner.
Ross
if you are having this kinda idea, maybe you can create a sort of diggit or tecnorati especially for photographers but i have to agree with what everyone else is saying here, and good advice troy.
