I got to visit a aquarium recently, and wow, what a photographer's haven! So many amazing exhibits with many already set up with fantastic lighting. What was especially wonderful to see was the jellyfish exhibit -- I don't think I can capture how graceful they move and the awe one feels seeing them.

One of my fave images of the day:

There was an entire hallway of these, quite incredible display:

Of course there were other ocean life too:

Feel free to browse the blog for more images smile.gif
Thanks for looking and C&C is always welcome

Gorgeous photos! I think aquariums are so magical and everything surrounding underwater life is fascinating. I went to Shedd's Aquarium in Chicago when I was in town to photograph the Foo Fighters and tried to get some photos of the jellyfish there, but couldn't capture them quite like you did!

I took this photo a couple weeks ago and it's one of my recent faves.

I agree! They have so many amazing creatures that you never get a chance to see closeup. I started reading up on jellyfish when I got home. I also saw how a starfish eats scallops--they had a computer generated video for it--but then of course I youtube'd it when I got home, so interesting! I rarely see them move so it was fascinating to see.
thanks for the kind words on the pictures. I love the blue tones in your pictures and the fact that the things floating in the case gives texture to the image. Nice!

Couldn't agree more. My husband and I checked out the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach not too long ago. We had a great time and got some fun pics.

these are great! I live about 5 miles from our local NC Aquarium and should go to practice.
How did you get it so clear? What lense did you use?

<----just getting started.

I think we got lucky with the clarity of the tanks at our aquarium. They were pretty clean and didn't have a lot of fingerprints left behind by all the kiddos. The first three photos were taken with my new favorite lens...Canon's 28mm/1.8. I totally needed it because the inside of the Aquarium was quite dark. The last photo of the frog was taken with a 100mm macro. A little contrast/saturation boost in Photoshop also makes things pop.

Lori,
yeah very clear images smile.gif

Jessica,
Yeah they keep the tanks very clean, and probably knowing people always wanting to photograph these amazing guys they have lighted some of these very photograph friendly. (e.g. jellyfish exhibit) Yeah there were some areas where it was just superdark and I just waited for the fish to swim to the area of the tank where the light would hit them. smile.gif
