I have a friend who is looking to put together a modelling porfolio for his children.

He's looking for a photographer within say 2 hours of Durham NC.

Please leave your details.

thanks
andrew
I'm just down the road (15 mins) and would be interested in speaking with him.

I really would have them talk to an agency. Generally for children, they don't encourage spending money on a portfolio for children as they change so fast. A simple head shot gets you into the door of the agency. Then if the agency thinks the child will bring in revenue, they will request more images. They also will generally supply a list of photographers that they recommend to give the look the agency likes to represent.
Some times agencies will also front the money for the shoot.

MarieC is in Raleigh and does some fantastic children's portraits. www.phrecklesphotography.com She doesn't post on here a lot.

Also, Whitebox Weddings in Greensboro are AMAZING! I absolutely love their work. They have a completely different style than what I do.

Hi - longtime lurker, but until relocating a year ago I was heavily involved in the Triangle theatre scene.

I'd definitely get in touch with Curtis Brown - he's extraordinary and has a background in the theatre (as a performer) and he shoots for North Carolina Theatre. http://www.curtisbrownphotography.com/

Also, the recommendation above re: an agent is a great one. There is one particularly good agency in Raleigh - Talent One http://www.talentone.net (their website is atrocious but they're incredibly knowledgeable and caring) Others in the area are shady at best.

Good luck to your friend,
MK
