My friend and I went out to what is known as the "U Lands" in Rosemount, MN.
When I was in high school my friends and I would go back there and drive off-road and explore the old WWII munitions plants and structures. Although I was 'into' photography in high school, I never really saw the capabilities of using the U Lands as part of a project.
The area hasn't changed too much over the years, but from what I understand the University of MN owns it and has a few ideas on what they are to do with the land... one (crazy) idea is to tear it all down and build a golf course. Like MN needs another one of those - lol.
I would prefer that they create a museum out of the area, with some sort of campus or something. Or, just leave it as-is...
I will be going out there many times now, as well as pulling research of the history of that area. I also hope I can find anyone still alive that actually worked there... it would be great to hear their story and photograph them amongst the ruins.
Anyway...
