Full Version: CF Card Full - No Image

This has happened 3 times now. The first card was in December shortly after I purchased it. The other two were just this past week.

When I insert the card, it says it is full. When I go to delete it - it says no image.
All three cards are Sandisk. Two are Sandisk Extreme III's, and one is an Ultra II.
I've tried the recovery software, but on one card it tells me that it is corrupt and the other two, nothing happens. The program won't run.

Any suggestions, other than being really ticked off?

Format it in the camera if you know nothing is on it?

Are you on a Mac?
Lisa L.
I'm on a Pc Lisa.

Sorry Matt, I'm not sure what you mean. How do I do that?

I believe there are images on the cards. I do not need to recover them as I have already unloaded and saved. I just need to wipe them clean to be able to use again and figure out why it is happening.

I am not sure if PC is the same, but I had to use disk utility on my Mac to get my images to clear off the card. I had the exact problem and thought they were bad cards. I called the company and they told me to clear them and format with DU and it worked smile.gif

what camera are you using?

on Canons, you push your menu button, find "Format" and do it. It's in a menu somewhere on most cams. smile.gif

Well, Geez Matt, why didn't you say it was that easy? smile.gif

5D camera

How was I supposed to know what format meant?

Ok, well the Recovery software did wipe one of them clean, but took 15 minutes. So that works too.

But I would go with the format, click ok - route. 2 seconds and they were all empty. Even the one that the Recovery software told me was corrupt.
Hope this helps someone else.

Thanks Lisa & Matt

Hey Lisa,

I thought that you had tried to format in camera first. See, when it happened to me, I couldn't even get my cards to format/clear in camera...not sure why though.

Glad it worked.

Rule of thumb....always format in the camera. Never on the PC/Mac. I learned that lesson the hardway and lost images for a client. Thats before I knew of Sandisk's Rescue Pro...which is a lifesaver.

The other issue Ive noticed is if you use the card and shoot with one camera and then try to use the same card in another camera, it wont show the images....maybe a raw format incompatibility. Dunno...

Every new shoot Im on, I format in camera before I go...just make sure you have it saved before tho..
