Got my first and I like it except that the pages are thin. Usually use Sharpies but will Sharpies bleed unto the next page with this paper? THANKS

is it pearl paper? pearl is much thicker than their standard paper... hmmm
still, no idea if a sharpie will bleed through... i doubt it would, but if it did you could always complain and have them re-do your book in pearl.

sharpies still smear unless you have someone standing with the book making sure people don't flip the pages too fast. anyone know if the best pen to use on photo books like this??

Trevor, it doesn't come with the option of pearl.
I called WHCC and the rep I spoke to said that it shouldn't bleed w/ Sharpie. I think I might try the hinged cuz that's a much thicker paper, have seen it personally. The only thing I kinda didn't like was the plastic hinge, it moved around a little and kinda funky but maybe I'm just being nit picky.

I used the regular paper for a guest book and they had the guests sign in with just a regular pen (although I had made suggestions, they got one of the wedding-y ones anyway). It looked fine.
I have seen a sharpie on the hinged (looked glossy to me) and maybe the guests were intelligent about it, but I didn't see any smearing in the book when I looked through at the end of the wedding.

Simple, ball point from Staples advertised as "no smear" or "quick dry" do just fine too. We used those over sharpies. Looked at the guestbook at the end of the reception and no smears.
When WHCC switched to their stitch seam books in March, I couldn't stand them. Looked very cheap and unfinished IMHO but we love the hinged books and the thick paper is awesome because with the thinner paper, you could sort of see through the pages. More than worth the extra bit of cost and I'll take the little strip of plastic over those bulky, visible stitches any day.

I recently used the WHCC book with just a regular pen and there was no smearing or anything!

I get them a 4 pack of Uline Comfort Grip pens - just like a sharpie but nicer looking - and giving guests the choice of colors to write in adds creativity.

No. I use sharpies (thin ones that look like pens) and work great.

The scrapbooker in me cringes when I hear ball point pens, the are not acid free and over time can do some damage even to the best quality photo paper.

Stop into your local scrapbooking store and pick something up with a Zig pen or its equivalent. Quick drying and archival safe.
