I currently use a LowePro Micro treckker and its just too damn small and gets far too heavy for my little sholders to cope with smile.gif Im looking for a decient roller bag that can hold all my stuff, fit in a planes overhead compartment, fit a laptop AND be easy to lug around....

I currently have

2 30D's
1 24-70 2.8L
1 teeny 18-55mm piece of rubbish
1 flash
Epson Photo viewer
assorted other crap

and will soon get a 5D, 70-200 2.8 and some kindof wide angle prime...

Ive been looking into ThinkTank Airport International V2.0 and the Lowepro Pro Roller 1 or CompuTrekker . Any feedback on either...or other suggestions? I want to get it by the end of the month so it can go into this Tax year laugh.gif

I use domke bags and love them. they last forever and are very low profile. only problem is they come in a shoulder bag only (to the best of my knowledge.) that can make for one heavy bag after a 10 hour wedding full of cameras and lenses.

i load mine with two bodies
4 primes 50mm, 60mm, 85mm, 180mm
2 zooms 17-55mm, 70-200mm
2 speedlights and pocket wizards

good luck,
james

Definitely the Think Tank roller!!! thumbsup.gif

I just ordered (and received yesterday) the Think Tank Airport International. I haven't tried packing it yet, but the size seems perfect and it also seems very sturdy with the rollers. I am not sure if this would do you any good since you are outside the US, but ThinkTank was out of stock so I ordered it from Norman Camera in Grand Rapids, MI and found a coupon code for free shipping with a quick google search.

Think Tank Airport Security for all your stuff. I hop planes with it A LOT, it fits nicely in every overhead except AA's crappy MD-80s. You'll need a second bag for a laptop though. For gigs that I'm pulling this bag I have to check a bag with clothes.

For run and gun jobs (local weddings or location engagements and portraits), Tenba PB-17C backpack. Holds Macbook Pro 17 and a ton of gear. Its heavy IF you have to wear it but that's usually not very long and when you do you will probably have a body and a lens or two out of it anyway. When on the job I highly recommend the BODA Dry (the full size bag). I've used Think Tank belts, have a Shootsac, and have tried the BODA Jr. but the BODA Dry is really great for working a wedding. The Shootsac was good but I had to wrestle with it to get a 70-200 with hood attached into it and forget it if it had a tripod mount on it! Not so with BODA, drop the big lens in, pull out the 24-70 (with hood attached as well) and keep shootin'.

...I'd like to add...get as big a bag as you can afford. It won't be long before you fill it up with all the stuff we just can't live without. A little more on one larger bag now will be less than getting one that fits you now but will be too small again in no time. I'm probably not the only one that has experienced that! wacko.gif

I had the ThinkTank Airport and loved it. It was actually small for all of my gear. I sold it to another OSPer and bought the Airport International. Their bags rock!

I'm sooooo glad you started this topic as I need to order a bag to take on flights by tomorrow so I'll have it in time for my upcoming trips. After many hours online researching I had to take a break last night....
there's so much out there! wacko.gif

I'm leaning toward the Think Tank but also like the Jill-e too. I have my Shootsac for quick lens changes (which is what it's designed for - it's not a bag substitute for your gear) and I do like it the only thing I've experienced is I just don't feel comfortable putting my 70-200 lens in it - it's an extremely hard fit for me. Plus, I'm the "go-go-go" type and move around so quick - when I've bent down I've had a lens drop out. Talk about the heart skipping a beat!

Any suggestions or comments on the Jill-e roller bag would be appreciated too!!
Plus if you have one of those bags you are thinking about selling please let me know.

Thanks!!

That bag looks awesome! I have like 5 bags and I am still looking for the perfect one. I use all 5 of my bags and they each of a different purpose. Still haven't found the perfect one yet. This one does look like a sweet travel bag though.

*~*Hey Tami*~*
Thanks - I'm doing a google search now - I like the looks of it too.
BTW - I stared at that link before clicking {gg}......I can't see the links on the bottom
of my screen on my Mac for whatever reason so that's why I get "Ricked" all over the place laughing.gif
Gotta luv it though!

i know it must be in the US, i know that they change the names (to protect the innocent i guess).

its a hellova bag. its very secure as well - lots of extra closings to keep everything secure.

oh and you can 'lift out' the inside storage compartments and just use it as one big carry on bag if you want to.

We've tried a few different bags (though not the think tank which looks awesome) and settled on the Pelican 1510 roller. It fits a great amount of gear and has really worked well for us. It fits in every plane we've been in--and under most seats too. I'm very happy with it.
Lisa O'Connor
Wow! That's an impressive roller bag too..........I think it's time to go walk the doggies and try to make a decision! Thanks!

I'm a bit confused - well not confused just surprised - the more that I'm comparing the Jill-e Small Nylon($139.99) and Medium Bag Suede ($239.99) there's not that much difference in size........The only difference in size is 1" in width and 1 1/2" in height - the 14" length is the same on both bags and of course the material is different too.

HELLYEAH!! thats the problem i have with the bag i have now...i bought it and less than a month later it was too small as i bought another body....

Anyone use a soft Pelican rolling case (with laptop compartment)? I am thinking about buying one from the local camera shop on Monday. I think the model number is either PCS179. See here: http://www.adorama.com/PLPCS179GR.html

Being on a budget and prefer to spend money on camera equip and software, I have converted a small rolling suitcase with stand into my main lugger - it fits two bodies, 6 lenses and two flashes and I have used thick foam and separators from other camera bags to protect each piece from each other.

In terms of carrying things around at a wedding, I shoot with two cameras, usually with flash already on board and obviously 2 lenses - then I have my own version of the 'shootsac' which is a lightweight funky red bag that slings over my neck and round my shoulder just like the shootsac and it holds my extra 2-3 lenses, batteries etc. I also wear a normal belt and have two lowepro p and s camera cases which are filled which new camera batteries in one and my used CF cards in another. My unused cf cards are in a sandisk zip up pocket attached to my belt also.

I look a bit like a copper - I just need a baton on my back right hip to beat away any body that goes near my gear!

Here's something funny because I'm just so clever {gg}!
I thought I'd create my own chic camera bag and go buy a really cool Guess
handbag with a matching purse too (since I am saving some $$ right?!)......

I was all excited......so when I got home put my 30d in it with my 50 attached - that's it
and my great idea was "no more" - the bottom of my Guess bag sagged
and looked like it was about to bust open!! blink.gif

Soooooo, I just placed my order for the Jill-e bag below and can't wait to get it!
I'll post a pic or two when I get it next week.
