I tried to find if this topic was already here because I'm sure it's been discussed already but...

What is everyone's favorite wide angle lens to use with their 5D?

What are the pros/cons of the different lenses?

Thanks

I just got a 5D and I've been renting the 16-35 mm 2.8 and I really love it. You definitely have to be careful with distorting people if they are too close to you, but otherwise I really like it. There are times when I wish I could get in a bit closer with it, but I just switch to a longer lens. If you can rent it and try it out I would definitely reccomend it.

I like my 28 1.8 on my 5D smile.gif There is minor distortion on the edges but not to much.

I love my 24-105 on my 5D but i did notice slight vignetting in the corners when at 24mm. I'm not really a 'wide' girl - I love my 50mm and 85mm and of course my 70-200. Been debating whether to get the 16-35 or 28 1.8. After shooting quite a bit yesterday at 24mm, I think the 28 will be plenty wide enough and give me a nice fast prime for weddings. It's also a helluva lot cheaper!!

Anyone have the 28 1.8?

16-35!!! Great combination.

Nothing is better on a 5D than the 24 f1.4L. That combo is made in heaven. smile.gif

Thanks everyone! I'm about to get my rebate back and trying to figure out exactly what I want to get. smile.gif I might have to rent some of those. Does no one like the 10-22?

10-22 is WAY wide!!!!!

i think for the versatility... the 16-35 is perfect. smile.gif

Yeah, on a full-frame body shooting people with the 10-22 has too much distortion for my taste. It can easily look like one of those funhouse mirrors! We have the 16-35 and love it and the 24-105 and would love it more if it was a 2.8!

You cannot use EFS lenses on the 5D!

crap. I'm looking for a wider lens and checked out the 16-35, but man, not sure I can swing $1,300 right now. Woo wee.

(This is where you guys come in an convince me to throw it on my MC.)

If its for a 5D, then get the 28 1.8 for $400.

Or try the 17-40/4 which is much cheaper, I think $600 or so....

I'd RATHER have the 16-35 for the 2.8, but I live with the 17-40 because it's what I could afford.

How is the 28 1.8 with distortion? What about the 17-40?

24 1.4L is very sweet on 5D, no distortion.

Anyone have both the 24 1.4L and 35 1.4L?? Just curious if either one is preferred over the other.

I'm leaning more towards the 35 for my 5D but I hear a lot of great stuff about the 24 1.4.
