I've decided to switch to Canon from Olympus. I've just bought a 40D and a 30D as a backup.
Currently I have an Olympus E-3 with e-510 and e-500 as a back-up, but I am lost for lenses and what would work best since there are way more Canon options.
My three most used Olympus lenses are a 14-54mm 2.8-3.5, 50mm 2.0 macro and a 50-200mm 2.8. Olympus has a 2x crop factor and the body has built-in image stabilization. Based on my current likes, what would be the best options with Canon for me? I've been reading lots of specs on various lenses, but I am totally lost! A little guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Basic starters...
10-22 (16-35 equivalent on 40D)
24-70/2.8L
70-200/2.8L IS
From there, everything else is gravy.. but those would be my BASE lenses. I have the 17-40/4 since I have a 5D and the 10-22 won't work on the 5D, only cropped bodies.

check out these 2 links
http://www.the-digital-picture.com/Reviews...ns-Reviews.aspxhttp://www.the-digital-picture.com/Reviews...ns-Reviews.aspxThe first lists zooms and the second lists primes.
A no brainer lens is the 50 1.4 for about $300. Can go higher quality and get the 1.2L or you can get the cheaper 1.8. The 50 1.8 is only $80, but i'd suggest sticking to atleast the 1.4 version.
A 70-200L and either the 16-35L or the 24-70L would be good too.

The Canon 10-22 is an awesome lens, especially on a crop body, but it does tend to distort images.
My new favorite is the 28/1.8. It's fast to focus and is a perfect match for 40D.
For macros I recently got the 100mm macro lens, but I haven't been as happy with it. It's heavy and I feel it needs a tripod. If I had to buy another macro I would probably get the 50mm macro. It's cheaper and I've seen some stellar food and detail shot taken with it.

It's so funny to read your post. I have OLY gear and just got to play with a 5D and the 70-200IS, (Thanks to Rachael) and I'm in LOVE!

Thank you for all the advice - i've got a lot of reading to do. I've definitely got the 50mm 1.4 on my mind, now I just need to work the budget to figure out the other options! I like to be sort of far away from the action, so a 200mm of some sort will be necessary. Please keep suggesting!

I would agree with these, although I would more likely go with a 50mm 1.2 instead of the 24-70. It would be more of a portrait lens on a crop body...

Thanks to everyone for the advice! So far i got the 50mm 1.4, 85mm 1.8 and I am waiting for the 70-200mm L IS to arrive. I need something wide angle to round out, but I'm totally happy so far!

DO NOT buy the 10-22. It's EXPENSIVE for what it is, and it's an EF-S lens, which will limit you greatly when you want to upgrade to a non-crop body.
If you're going to buy lenses, for the love of god buy something worth keeping. The worst thing you can do is buy lenses that will need replacing in a couple of years when they either wear out or aren't compatible with your new camera.
That being said, save and buy in increments... L series lenses... 16-35mm f/2.8L, 24-70mm f/2.8L and 70-200mm f/2.8L IS will take you a LONG way... or primes, depending on what you're comfortable with. The 50mm f/1.4 is a nice lens which compliments the lenses I mentioned very well.
I suggest you set a plan for yourself as to what equipment you're going to spend money on and stick to it. Lenses are important. The camera body... well, that depends on a lot of things but for the most part it's a minor factor... you'll only have it for a few years anyway until you upgrade to the latest and greatest.

Also from what you listed the lenses you wanted were the 24-70 2.8, 70-200 2.8 and Canon 100mm macro.
That would cover all of the lenses you use the most on your oly. And then you could fill in with the well meaning suggestions of the others here. They appear to have just suggested great canon lenses NOT fairly equivalent canon lenses.

this really depends on how much money you can spend.
do you want zooms, or do you want to start off with a set of primes?
what kind of shooting do you do? weddings only? portraits?
there are a lot of factors that you need to think about when deciding -
also, there's nothing wrong with starting off wtih used lenses either, or renting them to see how they work wtih your setup.
i have a 40d, but i use only primes. i do a lot of portfolio work wtih models, portrait work and weddings.

I agree that the 24-70mm and 100mm macro would be the next best choices... I'm not entirely feeling comfortable with primes! Must save for those now! Thanks!

Primes can be a little intimidating and you always worry about not being able to get shots, but how often do you snap zoom onto a subject. A great canon prime on the budget for 1.6 crop bodies is the 35 f/2. It's a solid light lens that's easy to work with, it still remains to be seen if it's as magical as thenikon 35 f/2 for me but there is also always renting them and seeing what works.
