Full Version: Considering delivering the entire reception in B&W

So my wedding from Saturday... the wedding photos turned out great, but the reception was... a little less than dark. I double flash which kept my shutter speed high enough so everything is still sharp. My question is... what do you think of delivering the entire reception in black and white? The combination of what light was there and my flash really clash, but when I take a shot to B & W it looks great.

Can we see examples?

if its something they are expecting, then i would. however, i have yet to find a couple who want everything in black and white (which, would be my dream couple!).

I would say this is one of the better images color balance wise.

In Adobe Camera Raw CS3 there is a feature that allows you to turn down the saturation in specific color channels. Try to turn down the Yellow channel. You can also adjust the Hue of the Yellow channel to look a little more Red. This might help you.

Give it a try.

That helps a lot... I've used those controls before, just didn't think about it this time. I think I'm going to deliver a large percentage of the reception in B&W still, but this allows me to not have to deliver everything in B&W.

It's all about expectations. What are they expecting?

Your color looks fine--I agree B&W looks a little better, but the desaturated version James posted is a good option. I wouldn't present ALL in B+W, but you could do like...75% in BW or something.
