Can't find how to do this in the manual, and Kevin Swan's tutorial (love it!) doesn't cover this (unless I completely missed it??). This must be a basic function I'missing.

HELP!

Thanks,

Geneve

select the images, apply the preset, click "sync" and then check the options that apply (or check all to be lazy haha)

Even easier, from the develop module, hold down the command key (mac) or Ctrl (PC) and you'll see the Sync" button turn to "autosync". Now when you select several images and make changes, those changes will be made to all the selected images. Just click on the word "autosync" again to set it back to normal syncing.

Exactly, I've never had AutoSync off since I turned it on last February. I see no reason to use the Sync feature instead of AutoSync.

I've not checked, but is the Autosync limited to the sync checkboxes or is it everything?

Autosync is everything, I really can't find why anyone would use Sync, as it's in a way the same thing. If you want to adjust certain parameters, you just do that in Autosync, there's not need to choose what parameters you want to change with check boxes, because whatever you change (sliderwise) is what you want changed...right?!?. Am I missing something? I will say, that I use copy and paste quite a bit though and that uses check boxes, but I use it more like a temporary preset. Like I said, maybe I'm missing something.

they're the same tool - what exactly are we arguing over? lol Sync, autosync, who cares? That's the button you use to do what needs doing.

Dustin they do the same thing but there are obvious reason for having both. If you have a sequence of 5 images all the same conditions and you want the same white balance contrast etc you can highlight them all select autosync and make the adjustments. Lets say 40 images later you have almost the same conditions you would highlight one of the previous images and just use the regular sync feature. If you tweaked a black and white pre-set and wanted to sync it to other images further down the scroll bar that you haven't considered at the time of the 1st edit you have the regular sync. They are not the same but they do the same thing.

You can also do this in the Library mode, with the Quick Develop tab to the right. Just select the ones you want....the way I do it is to color code, say, the B&W picks and then select them all. Go over to the Quick Develop tab and where it says "Saved Preset" - choose your preset...voila!

Actually you are missing something, selecting the develop items you want to effect when you sync, allows for much more flexibillity. I often have both indoor and outdoor shots in the same group of images. If I want to apply sharpening to all of the images, I don't want to apply the outdoor WB to the indoor images or they will go green or orange, depending on the lighting.
