I love my flip video We have two. One for me and the family and one in Dustins camera bag when we go places, and when he goes on destination weddings. We love them.

Thanks Tiffany smile.gif
I'm leaning towards the Flip Ultra but the new Flip Mino that just came out today sounds sweet, especially with the new battery being able to last up to four hours. I love the concept of less is more too!

I bought my sister one to showcase my nephews adventures and it is really easy to use and share the videos online. It is fairly basic, but does seem to work well. She bought one for my mom and she can even use it, so you know it must be easy...hope that helps.

LOL....the ole "my mom can even use it" test laughing.gif

Thanks, I'm going to get one I'm just trying to decide between the Ultra and Mino now!
Sounds perfect for what I want to use it for and I love how basic it is too.

Lisa,
Here's a great showdown of a bunch of the small cheap camcorders, including the Mino and the Ultra. Looks like the Ultra comes out on top, but only slightly. It has some great comparison videos so you can see the difference. I've been meaning to get one of these small wonders myself!

I've got a flip ultra, and love it. lots of fun, and better quality than the vhs and 8mm video cams we had when I was a kid. the zoom is digital, and thoroughly sucks, the mic isn't all that spectacular, but we use the darn thing all the time.

i bought one and did not really like it becasue the file format was not very easy and mac friendly, could be wrong.

i got an aiptek HD camera from target for $140 and i am happy with it

use it all the time, see blog:

for mac use, you can simply download the right (free) avi codec, which works like a charm. otherwise, you can use visualhub ($20) to convert to mpeg4 or something else that'll work if you don't wish to install any other codecs.

I love that site, it really helped me out & decided to get the Mino - thank you Joe!!

How is this different from using a cell phone video camera? Besides resolution, I mean. If I want high-quality video, I'll use a regular video camera. If I want something quick, easy, and readily available (I usually have my phone with me), I can use the phone.

I guess I just don't see the market this is targeted to. But then again, I just got a new phone and hadn't upgraded for 5 years so maybe most phones don't do video. I haven't been keeping up with phone technology. Maybe having video on it is unusual.

I read an article on the Flip Mino and a few selling points for me........

One of the main things that Flip Mino is about is how Pure Digital's Software changes the way people capture and share videos via YouTube, MySpace, and AOL Video. This is supposed to be extremely easy to use and for someone like me that has never owned a camcorder of any type - that is a huge selling point.

Another way to share videos from the Flip Mino is via Pure Digital's server, which sends emails with embedded video links, saving upload and download time on both ends.

You can take it virtually anywhere because it's small and light weight. You can use it in various situations ranging from bright, outdoor settings to indoors while eating dinner in a restaurant. The Mino has an "iPod" type battery where it now stays charged for up to four hours. The built-in software automatically starts when the camera plugs into your Mac or Windows PC and is supposed to be very easy to use.

So the Ultra does work well with Mac?
