Everyone talks about establishing a photography style. I think that sometimes your photographic style usually finds you rather than the other way around - or at least that's how it happened for me. While I love dark and moody images for some reason my wedding images have been turning out a little more on the bright side... That wasn't my goal it just seemed to work out that way.

This weekend I shot a gorgeous wedding in st. simons island. The golf club house where they got ready was really dark (shooting iso 3600 f/1.2 most of the time) which resulted in more dramatic lighting. It seems that I got into the darkness so much I had a hard time getting out of it during the rest of the day. Is this normal??

marybeth, as i have said before, i can spot your work a mile away. i always identify you with very classy, elegant weddings. your style matches your weddings perfectly. i dont know how you have done it, but i think you have really managed very well and if i were you, i wouldnt dream of changing anything!

these are fantastic, as usual. oh but i have to say, that stray hair in 11 is driving me crazy!

Very delicious. Thank you for sharing these. Only one remark:
#4 , you can be seen in the mirrors. Shooting from behind with these mirrors angled in towards is simply not possible without being in the shot also smile.gif

oh my jesus, that mirror shot would be ever more awesome then it already is if you couldn't see your reflection. lovely images.

Yeah, that smile.gif What amazing shots...I'm so inspired, I can't wait for my next wedding!! Also, would you mind sharing how you get such great lens flare? I've been working on this for a long time and usually end up adding it in PS and it's so not as gorgeous as yours. Thanks for any tips...your images are absolutely stunning!

ahh! I know! smile.gif I actually did a little more to it to take myself out but didn't update it on my blog or on osp. I guess I was a little lazy the first time. The mirrors in that room were insane. Everywhere I looked I saw either myself or Lindsi Jones who came to shoot with me. I'm sure she has a million shots with me in it too.

I shoot with a 5D. And I'm almost certain most of those shots were taken with the 50 1.2 lens. I did run a little action to decrease some of the extra noise so I think that definitely makes a difference.

I think I used the 24mm lens for that shot. It's a very sharp lens and can pick up nice flare.

I believe it. Looks insane already with the one on the photo. Kinda reminds of Bruce Lee´s Movie laugh.gif

Do you have to cope with banding in dark areas at higher isos. My 5D drives me crazy when I see those areas on the screen. They also tend to be there in lower isos if I do not expose to the right. I was very surprsised to see such a clean 3200 capture.
