title says it all! What would you recommend? I want something light, easy collapsible, not too expensive.

thanks

With Monopods, as everything, you get what you pay for.

I have a Manfrotto 682B (black). It works for everything - 300 mm lens, lightstand, and 2nd remote flash. Big, beefy, $$$, and looks professional.

I have and love my Manfrotto 680B. It has 4 sections, compacts very well, and opens quickly. It has a very nice handle that doesnt slide around at all (i tested some that had some really lame handles). It is also relatively cheap at around 50 bucks. I then purchased a monopod head for it that lets it swivel for portrait shots. I use this more than my tripod because it is more mobile.

hope this helps.

I have the Manfrotto 679B. Love it. Only $72 at B&H.

You've heard of the "light on a stick"...I use the "camera on a stick" sometimes for aerial shots...check it on my daily photo tips blog entry from 11/27/06. thumbsup.gif

I have a Manfrotto 680B Monopod with 486RC2 Head and find it to be an excellent combination for surfing and other event shooting. I have a clip on it to attach it to my belt when not in use, thus freeing up both hands when needed.

It costs more, but is WELL worth it...check out
Manfrotto 685B NeoTec
It extends by just grabbing it and extending it (auto locks in place) and to retract a simple squeeze of the trigger. Very fast, very convenient. I have a bigger, sturdier Manfrotto, but this thing is what I always pick up.

Good luck!
Michael
