Full Version: Any Boda Bag users shooting with 2 cameras?

Hello

I have a BODA bag and love it. Got a 70-200, 24-70, and 50 inside, with one of them on my 5D while shooting. I'm going to be purchasing a 40D for backup. The intention was to just let the 40D sit aside, but I'm considering using it with a lens attached along with my 5D.

This kind of goes counter to the idea of the Boda Bag, but I was wondering if there were any 2 camera shooters out there who also use the bag and how you arrange things. At best, I can probably fit the 40D body in the Boda, but it becomes a bit awkward once a lens is attached (depends on the lens size of course and what else is in the bag). Not sure if I'd want to work with 2 cameras slung around me... too much banging around.

Just wanted to ask... thanks

I do. one camera with a regular strap, and one with a wrist strap, I clip the wrist strap to my belt with a small aluminum carabiner. See fuzzy iphone/bathroom mirror image for an idea.

If I have a small lens on the camera with the regular strap I can put it on the same side as the other camera and they don't interfere. That way I can carry a big lens with it's own strap on the boda side, it hangs behind the boda (200mm f1.8).

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the visual. That indeed helps. When the camera arrives, I'll see if I can work out something similar. I like how the cameras are on opposite sides and don't have a chance to bang into each other.

Any particular aluminum carabiner you recommend to trust the weight to? It sounds like you clip it to your Boda bag belt?

Thanks!

Nope I wear it on my belt - all the time - even today while i'm doing yard work, otherwise I'd lose it - that's just the way I am. smile.gif

It's about 1.5" long and says 'not for climbing' on one side and 'don't exceed 20lbs' on the other. I got it in the rope and strap isle at home depot for $1. I may get a slightly beefier one (but not as big as a real carabiner), and also replace the wrist strap with something stronger - I think the wrist strap is the weak link in the system, I wouldn't hang a heavy lens from the camera like that. But it's working, I use it all the time, it's my 1D mk3 that has the hand strap, and I usually have just that camera and the Boda.

II use 2 D300's and the Boda. One Camera around my neck with the 17-55, one on my right shoulder with the 85, and the Boda slung across the shoulders to the right side. It sits a little back and the camera sits a little forward.

I am really liking the carabiner idea! Thanks Bill. Why didn't I think of that one? I love carabiners!

Time to go see what I can rig up! thumbsup.gif
