Full Version: Some recent work

Hi everyone! I just love this forum and seeing everyone's work on here. It really inspires me to go out and shoot more and experiment. I thought I would post some of my recent images and see if anyone had any C&C to offer. I shoot mostly headshots for actors / models in the Atlanta area (took over my dad's business last year, he shot for 18 years), and am starting to do more portraits. I'm still learning about posing with 2 people, but I am really happy with how my latest session turned out (the first in this series). But it's hard to work with a couple who is a little nervous and stiff. Any ideas?

I used Lightroom and Photoshop for the editing and post processing. I hope it looks okay.. My monitor is calibrated to the lab I use, but I know things look different on each computer. I would like to do more post processing work to some of these, but I don't want anything too distracting to pull away from the photos so it's something else I'm playing with now.

Anyway, thanks for taking time to look and I'm looking forward to the Atlanta get together!

Those are simple lovely headshots girl! As for posing (which I abhore) is helps to give you and your clients the first 15 minutes or so to relax and get comfy with each other. I use humor and get them to relax a bit while I take a bunch of throw away shots (to get them used to the camera in their face). Then I try to pose them as little as possible while I compose shots of them just being them. Then when they have grown comfortable and are starting to have fun I start to give them a bit of direction. I often explain to them that if they feel uncomftable then it probably looks good, ha! smile.gif I hope that helps a bit. Nice work, my favorite is the second shot of the woman with the super curly hair.

Grace and Peace,

I think they're lovely! I really like the last one of the couple, the first one of the blonde, and both the ones of the girl with the curly hair. Your color and clarity makes me envious. Very nice!
