Hey! I just set up my Mac Mail for the first time ever. I have one email address on it right now. I have a few questions problems:

1. My sent folder isnt showing anything. I've sent atleast 5-6 emails and they arent showing in the Sent folder?

2. My Trashed/Deleted folder isnt showing up on the left hand side with the Inbox, Sent , and Junk folder?

3. Can I or how do I add import addresses and contacts from 2 other hotmail accounts? I have them exported to an excel spreadsheet but do I have to add these manually?

4. One more, I have 2 hotmail accounts right now...is it possible to read those from Mac Mail as well and not have to login in to hotmail.com all the time?

A HUGE thanks to anyone that can help me with this. Im a Mac Mail newbie smile.gif

Totally understand. I had the same problem when I switched from PC to Mac. Mac Mail does it completely different than any other mail program I know of and it got some getting used to but once I figured it out, it made complete sense!

For your first couple of problems, you'll have to tell Mail which folders you want for the different functions. In other words, you'll have to tell Mail which folder is the Sent folder and which folder is the Drafts... etc.

All you have to do is highlight the Sent folder and then go up to "Mailbox" --> "Use this Mailbox for" --> Sent.

Repeat that step for your other folders. That should have you set up for Mail to know where to put everything.

As far as your other questions are concerned... I believe you have to have Hotmail Plus to be able to check it in Mac Mail. You'll need to do some checking with that.

A better solution is to get a gmail account and have all of your hotmail e-mails forwarded to it. Gmail is a lot more "open" about letting people check their e-mail using external programs like Mail for free. And it's just a better service anyways -- you can use IMAP to check e-mails!

Try those solutions and if they don't work, let us know!

Hey Rich or anybody else that might read this and feel sorry for me since I cant work a stupid Mail program sad.gif ......

I tried selecting the Sent, Trash, etc mailboxes and going to Mailbox - Use This Mailbox For... but everything is grayed out and I cant click on any of them?

Nothing is going in to my Sent box...when i send something i see the circle spinning that means its sending but nothing ever gets put in the Sent folder....

Same for the Trash folder....if i delete something with the delete button it is just gone and doesnt show up in there...unless i drag it to the trash then it shows up in there??

I seem to be receiving mail ok and i've had a few go into Junk Mail...

Another question....how do I pull up my Address Book? I dont see an option for this anywhere?

If anybody can help me with this I would be sooooo happy smile.gif

sounds like you have your mail accounts set up wrong.... not sure exactly what you've done but you're going to have to go through again and check it out.

as far as your address book goes... it's the application that looks like an, um... address book. it is not linked to mail directly, but you can select any person in your address book and right/control click and say send email... or just start typing their name or email address in the "to" field in mail and it will automatically complete the field for you.
