What do you think of Animoto?

It's basically a slideshow video on steroids, like a movie trailer for your photos. I made the below example from a wedding I shot a while back.

I actually wanted my video larger than what Animoto provides so I downloaded the finished video from their site and up-rez-ed it to a larger size. Then I uploaded the file to my SmugMug account for embedding on my blog.

Example:

My blog post with a wedding gallery Animoto video

While I don't think it takes the place of a more traditional slideshow, I think it can be a nice trailer for your final images. Especially if the couple is of the MTV generation.

What do you think?

I really like it for seniors but for weddings and stuff I think Showit is better.

Yea, I've got ShowItWeb also and like it a lot.

Do you think Animoto is 'just for kids'?

I bought it for the year, I plan on using it for all of my seniors! they will love it!

I haven't used them for weddings but our seniors love them. I was reading an article online about them and it mentioned the developers are all from video production backgrounds and that the program automatically matches transitions with the beat of the music.

Now that they allow you to use your own music, I was thinking about using some slower royalty free music to see if the pace of the images slows accordingly.

Here's one of our senior Animoto video's: Becky

I think it's good if you want to take all the images of the year and make a trailer for it and then upload it to blip.tv to post on your website or blog.

It would be cool if they could give you the controls to slow it down a little.

Tristan - I am using them on my web page www.xesphotography.com which I built with show it sites. What software did you use to "up rez it?"

DanW - how did the images look when you played them on a TV after buring a disk?I know they plan on implementing a DVD service eventually - I wondered how it would look now with the current file size they provide...

And most imprtantly what did your vendors think?

Thanks

I use MPEG Streamclip to up-res.

I really like the concept, but I think the cost is crazy high. If it was $250 all together and not per year it would definitely be worth it.
