Ok, so I know I constantly complain about Arizona not being green and wishing I could have some green stuff in my photos for a change, but for some reason, I HATE to take formal pictures of a bride and groom at a golf course. My creative mind just goes blank, it's like how many ways can you photograph a stupid green rolling hills that a million other people haven't already done? And that isn't going to look like cheesy wedding photos on a golf course...
Does anybody else feel like this too?

Well...it's not the green rolling hills that you are photographing, is it?

I guess my problem is the Arizona sun, and the fact that most golf course weddings I end up doing are smack dab in the middle of the day when the sun is yuckiest. For some reason my brain completly shuts down when I don't have some sort of element for my subjects to interact with. (besides the ground) So maybe my problem lies mostly in the lack of variation I seem to get in my photos when I shoot a golf course wedding, everything ends up looking so similar.

I hear ya! I never thought I'd actually be wishing for a cloudy day! I've been lucky to have ones with bridges or something to work around. The sun here is my BIGGEST challenge.

golf courses are a notch above altars, which makes everyone stiff and not much fun lol

speak for yourself! the golfcourses over here are some of the nicest venues in england! this country is in serious need of venue overhall. most of them are hideous, to say the least. i had the most fun at this golf club and when it came time for some pictures, the guys loaded up us in golfcarts and we had a blast driving all over the place:

The grass is always greener on the other side. How about if we trade some corn fields or golf courses for some red rock or mountains??
To me it sounds like your focus is centered on your surroundings and not what you are shooting...

The only ones I hate are the cheesy poses involving golf clubs. Like the Groom taking a putt and the bride has her arms around him with an expression that says "Great my husband is playing golf for the photographer on my wedding day, I'm so excited!" I've seen that shot in a local wedding mag and I cringe every time.

Golf Courses allow you to get sweet (yet cliched) shots like this:

And really, who doesn't love a good round of golf?

See personally... I love this photo, but hate that there is a golf green in it... It's weird, maybe I hate golf? But I did an e-session at a put put golf course and loved it... I don't know what's wrong with me.
I guess I'm really just not the green grass and sunshine photographer though, give me downtown grit and grime over a golf course any day. To me that's way cooler and inspiring to photograph around.
But I suppose I just need to push myself more...
Here's one from an e-session I don't hate... but can't say I like it either... The sun was at least nice.

I just did a golf course wedding tonight and I hope I don't have to again!

Pretty much wherever I wanted to take pictures there were guys playing golf in the background. I couldn't take pictures anywhere else but on the green so I was stuck. Full sunlight and hardly any shade anywhere. The bridesmaids were complaining the whole time about being in the sun. The ceremony started late due to the brides zipper being broke and then so I had to hurry and take pictures as fast as lightning in a bad location.
I think I earned every penny that I was paid

Lot of FL weddings on golf courses I hate em, don't like most shots above, greens, condos, sand traps and flags... Brandon's is what I try to do, or 2.8 and blow out the back. I do everything I can to keep the golf look out. Usually there are lakes and water sometimes bridges that still might say "golf course but at least don't scream "golf course".
