EEEE!! Great, now how am I going to sleep tonight?

When did you find this was posted? Any ideas on that?

I'm getting that 5d (the "regular type" one... is that what we should call it?) at some point... Was getting it in January, then I ended up having a few other unexpected expenses... Now I'm just holding my breath because I decided I don't NEED it, but I am getting to the point where I want those great images straight out of camera... I want it to happen before my July weddings... Come on Mark II!! Bring on that price drop!

Yeah, while that's true.. I guess the latest issue of Professional Photographer talks about a new 5D... I haven't looked at my latest issue, but pulled from someone that has (need to find my copy now.. ugh..)

the rumours according to Professional Photographer magazine:

16MP
Normal ISO max of 12,800 that can be increased to 25,600
6.5 fps slowing to 3fps for 68 frames
improved start up time
full weather sealing
3in lcd screen

Oh Man....I was all set to get a D300. Now I am thinking of the switch.

It seems there are too many of these small coincidences for there not to be something on the horizon.

Amazon has since taken off the pre-order button. Who knows! blink.gif

Pretty much confirmed rumors:
Photokina 2008 for getting to play with samples.
Samples will however go out to canon sponsored photographers going to the olympics.
3in rear lcd (like on 40d)
Sonic sensor cleaning
16MP
LiveView w/ contrast detect autofocus

Kinda rumory rumors:
14MP/18MP
8.5fps
12,800 ISO max
Full weather sealing.
ISO 6400 like butter.
Low introductory price ($2100) for competition purposes (Nikon "nd10")

Enjoy!
AZJamie
Is there a "For Sale Date"? Besides all the ones that have passed? Anything realistic?

if it indeed will retail for $2100, that would be a major incentive to get that model.

From what my guy said It will be "Available" October 3rd Shipping Will Start October 10th but expect it to be more impossible to get your hands on than the IDm3 was. Realistically I think he's blowing smoke on that, but I don't have any other info so I'll go with it.

Tell me about it! Realistically I think the price will be $2400ish but the rumor mill says that the Nikon "nd10" or "d10n" or "d10x" (full frame sensor in d300 or d80 body) will be retailing for $2670 and canon wants to get in hard and fast. My info on the Nikon is a bit shakier (effing layoffs) but we should be seeing that new nikon at photokina as well.

Lol. "Hi, Have you met Canon?" There is very little chance of these making it to "mortal" photographers before mid January the earliest. Remember how hard the 1dmIII was to get a hold of? This will be even harder. I do wish you guys the best of luck though!

i dunno lol i know the 5d is "good enough" (actually, it's more than good enough), but to have access to that much more in terms of features makes it enticing, especially if it hits the market at $2100. If it was like $3500, I'd pass, but $2100 makes it intriguing. I really want to sell my 20d backup and get the 5d though, so I may settle for the 5d now and then replace my 30d with the successor when the incoming cashflow warrants it.

Bryce, you are not encouraging in the least bit. 17.gif

Stupid rumors. I would so wait for the new 5d if it is introduced at that price point. But yeah, I have heard the current 5d is great as is too. I've been watching the price go down at Profeel.com--- Best price on the market right now(as far as the companies that have reputable service). I think we're in the same boat, Phil-- I have a 20d for a backup too, and a 30d for my main. I also need a wide angle lens though. Sigh... when will "the list" of things we "need" ever end?

Heh. Well if you'd like my 2 cents I'd wait for the 5d MarkII and then pick up a 5d at a cheap price, maybe even as low as 1700 (who knows) and don't forget about the used 5d's that are going to be filling the market at that time. You've got a 30d and a 20d that have been serving you super well. Don't rush the purchase. As soon as you rush it you regret it.
