Hi OSP!

Happy Saturday everyone! Well, after 20+ years I finally found my first "real" camera - the Olympus OM-10. wub.gif

I thought I had lost this bad boy forever but after digging through my folks storage I found it. Wow, I didn't realize that I've been in photography for that long. wacko.gif Here's a few pics and there are a bunch more on my blog:

Did anyone else ever shoot with an OM-10? If "yes" do you still have it and did you like it?

No, but my first SLR I used was an OM-2. Loved it. I suppose the OM-10 was five times better.

The OM-2 took a dip in an ocean wave -- just a splash, really -- but it was enough to kill it.

I started with a Pentax K1000 but, when I see it, it's like going home again!!

Cool. My dad used an Asahi Pentax screwmount my whole growing-up years. It had TTL metering, but you had to stop down. It's so nice not having to do that, anymore.

<---- I can guarantee you that this picture was taken with it.

I don't know, the OM-2 was part of the "professional" line so it was better built. Do you remember what lenses you used with it?

Ah, the Pentax K1000 - my High School photography teacher used to tell me to get one of those to learn with. I still may grab one from eBay just to have it as it is a true classic. And, it came with a great 50mm prime lens. Do you still have yours?

My Daughter has it! I took it out a couple of years ago and shot some transparencies, just so I wouldn't forget how much I loved it!!

LOL - I was never fast with focusing my OM-10 but I was faster than I am now. Too bad these old cameras can't keep up with the demands of modern-day photography. But, they produce great images and used great glass.

Anyone else remember their very 1st SLR? What was it and do you still have it?

I sold my first SLR, a Nikon FM a few years back. I regret it now and wish I had kept it.

Nikon FM, great camera! Why do you reget selling it?

I too started on a K1000. I miss that camera. I sold it years ago to a guy who was wanting to learn photography. That was a solid little camera. Most of my first light experiments were done with that camera. The good old days.

I had a Minolta X700.

Had to learn, or fail every time out you know?

I know I'm a bit late to this conversation - the first real camera I used was my high school's K-1000 with a 50. After I got hooked on photography, my parents gave me a modern slr for Christmas.

I was browsing through an antiques store yesterday just for fun, and ran across a K-1000! unsure.gif I feel old now.
