Full Version: Go check your domain expiration dates

I just lost (and hopefully reacquired) PictureInfinity.com because it was bought before I had matt@pictureinfinity.com email I don't check my old personal accounts and I renewed the name for 4 years.

Well, yesterday was 4 years later.

I haven't had an email in 48 hours (I average 40-50 per day).
The site is now down for 1-72 hours (new nameservers).

GO check. It doesn't matter how sure you are - go add something to your calendar to renew it. Whatever, just go protect your domain.

Sorry this happened to you matt sad.gif Thank you for the heads-up!
Melody
Ditto that. I almost lost mine last year because the credit card I had used to auto-renew it every year expired and I didn't even think about it.

yeah, i keep hoping for the tool who has my full name .com lets it lapse, because it's just a blank html page. what a waste of a good name lol

i renew my hosting and domain at the same time each year, and that helps me cuz I get plenty of reminders from my host
Matt Antonino
I use godaddy for everything now so i get reminder emails. This site I registered on was 4 or 5 YEARS ago - pre GoDaddy being any good. lol So I did get emails - maybe - to an account that isn't even active.

The problem is, so much changes in 4-5 years! I mean I have moved TWICE since then - I wonder what mail I'm not getting.

Go check. Now. lol

The same things almost happened to me last year. I use Namecheap.com and they are pretty good about sending out e-mail reminders to renew.

All 39 of my domains???? Wow...at 39 x $18 you must be having a good year! (Either that or you've sold cameras to Tim "I'll-buy-it-now" Miller...)

matt, i just asked my husband about this and we go through UK2 - we checked and your domain is available? i dont quite understand this.

you might want to check it out, they are a lot cheaper than any other place:

uk2

someone took tamicurtis.co.uk for some ungodly stupid reason (they are in the states), but i found it availablethrough another place.

lol Cuz I click youtube links.

It's also a good idea to set them to auto-renew. Even if you change your mind after the auto-renewal you can probably get a prorated refund or you're out a whopping $10 or so.

You generally have 45-days before it drops, so 99.99% sure you'll get it back.

Be sure to renew it for 2-10 years smile.gif

Also, set up a domain alert at DomainTools.com!

I tried to get squier.com a few months ago. Missed the chance. Then it was offered for sale for much more than I wanted to pay.

yep, this happened to us as well last year! UGH, so frustrating, now it's a reminder set upon my calendar a month prior to the expiration
