I would say no. But markets get food from around the world where they are in season so you should do OK at better markets. Regardless of what the recipe says, you may want to poach the pears in a sugar solution before you make the tort. Pears release TONS of liquid and poaching (believe it or not) pre-releases a lot of the liquid for you.

What forum is this anyway???? smile.gif

I just saw some at Trader Joe's. There were also some Nashi (Japanese apple-like pears).

Whereever you find them I think you can only get them two-at-a-time. No singles.

Well with all the drama going on, I'm hoping people can come relax over here. I'm gonna send a slice to Tami, Jim and Johnny and the others caught up in what's going on.

So if you want a break, come post your foodie fun over here. What you guys cooking for this weekend?

Mark, I believe you should have left the e off of what you are making... or stirring...

Just got some from Harry & David. Like butter melting in your mouth, they were that good. Cost a bunch though. I may have to sell some gear to T.Miller to pay for the next batch.

Let's keep this one clean of drama. Just the food folks, just the food.

We did Kabobs last night: Sausage, peppers, beef rib, shrimp and swordfish!

What a handsome devil he is

Now there's a good lookin' kid! Thank God for his Mom!
