Full Version: Can't open some JPEGs in ACR
OpenSourcePhoto > Digital Photography > Post Processing > Bridge

Suddenly Bridge is giving me problems.

It doesn't seem to want to open select JPEGs in ACR. Has anyone experienced this? Is it a known issue?

I highlight a series of say 20 images in Bridge and double click (preferences set to open JPEGs in ACR of course) and then when ACR opens, there are only 12 of my images open. Additionally, when I click the file dropdown, the open in ACR option is grayed out. I can't see any rhyme or reason to why this is happening.

are you able to open the single images?

Trevor to the rescue!!!

No, I'm not able to open the single images and that's where the "open in ACR" option under the file menu is grayed out.

When I open the 20 images, 12 will open in ACR and the remaining 8 will open in Photoshop.

I've never been able to open jpgs in ACR. I'm running CS2. I don't know if it changed in CS3, but I thought ACR was for RAW images and not jpgs.

Carey, CS2 does not support JPEG images to be opened in ACR. Bridge CS3 (along with lightroom) has brought the ability to edit JPEGs as you would RAW files in ACR, so I have no reason why Jessica is having this problem. Jessica, have you called Adobe about this issue? They should get you fixed up pretty quickly.

This is one of the BEST features of CS3, so it totally stinks to not have it working.

Do you have a number for Adobe? I've only ever seen a number that you can call to pay them for help. I never got my color space issues worked out either. I'll look again for another #.

Just curious, did you shoot them with the same camera?
dewdrop
Yes and they were part of the same sequence.

I've got it all figured out now. I spoke to Adobe. There must have been some corruption when the files were downloaded from my cards because they had me re-download the images and it worked fine with the new files.

Easy solution to a PITA problem.

Thanks for all of your help.

I had that issue when I got the D300's. I shot with both, in RAW, and one would open in ACR, and one would not give that option. I don't remember what I did to solve it.
