hey friends in san diego/oceanside/carlsbad!

so, i've got a portrait session scheduled this saturday for a couple flying out from deleware, to visit legoland. living in orange county, i don't really know any possible locations to shoot.

any suggestions?

[and i don't necessarily need to know any of your secret spots... i'm just looking for a cool setting, maybe a downtown-type of area, or somewhere you may have shot or even seen a lot of other photogs shoot... it doesn't have to be fresh]

thanks biggrin.gif

The flower fields are nice. We don't live there any more so I'm not sure if they're in bloom right now.

Legoland would be an awesome place for pictures, though you'd have to be a little sneaky (like at any amusement park).

The outlet mall right below the flower fields (and Legoland) has (had?) a really cool fountain and nice architecture.

You could go out on the pier in Oceanside (where Ruby's diner is). Or the beach right there. We had some portraits of the kids done under the pier on the rocks there. Very cool with the pylons and water.

There's also the marina in Oceanside. Also Mission San Luis Rey and surrounding areas (right by our old church, too -- New Song).

There are lots of places further down the coast, too. There's a protected area just south of Carlsbad -- Torrey Pines, I think it's called.

I'll let the SD natives chime in here, now. We haven't lived there for five years.

Hey Gabriel,

Downtown Solana Beach (Cedros Design district) is pretty sweet! Tons and tons of earthy/urban textures and settings, lots of color. Great mellow place to shoot.

Otherwise, there's always Ponto Beach, Tamarack Beach and the likes.

... I'll keep thinking ... smile.gif

I thought I gave the best advice!

What about legoland?

I also second Cedros Design District. Here is a google maps link to the Pizza Port brewery which is around the corner. Awesome pizza place and microbrewery. Totoally awesome - must check out!!!
