Full Version: Can't find Matt's pocket wizard trick

Matt put up a thing on how you can attach your pocket wizard to the bottom of the camera, and have a flash on the camera then the off camera flashes also. Great, got it attached but I think I'm missing a cord somewhere. Does anyone know where his info was posted on how to do this?
Paige Elizabeth
All you need is the cord that came with your PW. (Unless you're Canon then you need an adapter to attach to your flash.) Your PW manual shows the setup.

Sounds like an awkward way to setup the PW IMO as there is no easy way to set the camera down with it mounted underneath. Here is the most convenient way IMO- use a Hildozine Pocket Wizard Caddy. It attaches to the PW via the screw mount and can either be placed on top of the flash itself or on a light stand. It's very economical at $15 and really is an ingenious way to do it. I've been using it since it was introduced and it works as advertised! www.hildozine.com for pics on it mounted to a flash.

I believe it was Tim Halberg, not Matt. Or maybe Chris Humphreys. Once it's attached, you use the cord that came with the PW to plug it into the camera's PC sync socket

I use a short 1/4-20 stud to attach it to the bottom and the cord to the pc connector. I use my off camera cord to the Sb800 and the Q-Flash is fired by the PW.

And why would I set my camera down at a wedding?

Thanks Paige. That's exactly it. I downloaded the instruction manual. You're awesome.
