Hi all! I haven't posted in a while. I finally tweaked and reposted my sharpening page on my blog. There are a couple more actions in the set and I also tweaked some of the making them a little more powerful. I have had tons of great feedback on the action set and I just want to say thank you and that I hope they are working how you want/need them to. I'm just trying to make some of your lives easier and cheaper!

If you had my action set previously, I still recommend getting the updated version, as it is a little more powerful. I just tweaked the values a bit. I also added a Decaf version of BLOG Sharpen and Masked Sharpen for people who prefer their images not quite as sharp as I do. Give the set a try if you haven't already. I included 4 L.C.E. actions and 4 Fine sharpening actions just like before for people to be able to build their own actions from those. Once again, ENJOY!!!!

I loved your previous actions--thanks for the updates! Amazingly generous!

Wow. Thats a nice update indeed. Dustin, thank you so much for your generosity. A hot PIF for our every day workflow.

Edit:
There is only some slight problem with the Blog 900 Action which seeks for a script. This problem was also present with the previous action set.

The script is a fit image script. I have used the action set on over 10 computers with CS2 or newer and have had no problem. The actions were created in CS3. I am not claiming that they will work perfectly for everyone, but just wanted to share them since I thought people could benefit from them. What is the problem with the scripting part? If you let me know, I will try and remedy the problem for you. Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you very much for the input.
Adria Peaden
These are wonderful. As a newbie I appreciate low cost. I am going to start using them right away. Thanks.
Michael Andrews
on the blog sharpen 900, I get an error message at the beginning in the scripts section that says "General Photoshop error occurred. this functionality may not be available in this version of Photoshop. no additional information is available."

Stuff after that seems ok.

I'm using CS3 on a PC.

Not complaining!!!! Looks GREAT! Just wondering what the deal is....

Thanks!!

I think I figured out (but need someone to try and let me know) what the problem is with BLOG Sharpen 900. It's not that your version of PS doesn't have the fit image script, but it's telling it to look in a specific place from MY computer, not YOURS, so I believe all you have to do, is click on BLOG Sharpen 900 (not in button mode though) click RECORD on the bottom of the actions pallet and go to File>Automate>Fit Image and type in 900 px for both Height and Width and then click OK and then click STOP on the bottom of the actions pallet. TRASH the Scripts line below the one you just created. I believe if you do that, it should fix the issue, as I just think the link to the correct folder for the Fit Image script is specific to everyone's computer. I know there is a way to design the action to thank it works the same on everyone's, but I am not even close to knowing what/how to do that. So, hopefully this fixes the issue and if it works for you, please let me know so I can let others know. Enjoy!

Sorry for the little snafoo there everyone.

Did I tell you that you ROCK?
You Do!

Just when a person could get disillusioned with a place, something like this happens. I love this place and thank you so much.

Hey Dustin,
Thanks for the actions. I had a quick question:

If you were going to batch sharpen all the images you were giving to a client, which of your action(s) would you use? I was thinking Full RES Sharpen FULL, but I'd almost like something a little milder. These would be the images the client would get to keep on a DVD for printing, etc.

Thanks!

On the Sharpening Page, I mentioned that for batch sharpening, I use BLOG Sharpen, but it is really preference. If you find the Full Res Sharpenings too strong, you can use BLOG Sharpen, or use the seperate L.C.E. and Fine Sharpening actions to create your own action with the look that you prefer and that matches your style. That's why I included those in the action set. Just try and few different methods, I'm sure you'll find the look you're going for. thumbsup.gif

Wow, I have been wanting a magic sharp-type action for a while, but I've already got Totally Rad, and didn't want to buy a whole other set. This is exactly what I'm looking for, and your samples look beautiful. Thank you so much!

Great point - I often use the "L.C.E. Medium" combined with the "Fine Sharpen Light" and I'm set. You must "play" around with them as the camera and lens combination will effect how much sharpening you need. But, ALL of these actions are wonderful!
Wayne Toshikazu
Wow, I'll definitely be trying these out later today. And may I just say that I love your Full RES Sharpen Bold action - perfect for full res printing!

Thanks, Dustin!

Just have to send up some more love on this!!!!!!

I actually got to use these yesterday for the first time and I realized that what my images have been missing is the sharpening. I have been looking at other people's work on OSP and elsewhere for months now, trying to figure out why my images don't look that crisp, clean and sharp....and now I know. I just didn't sharpen them like everyone else is doing! HUGE EPIPHANY FOR ME!!!!! I don't suck...I was just 1 step short!

Thanks again Dustin!!! I passed on your amazing actions to some other photographer friends. Karma is going to come back and pay you back big time my friend!

Steph

I cannot WAIT to try these out. Seriously, thank you so much. I will definitely pay it forward!!!

Dustin-

I'm mostly using Bridge and ACR to edit AND sharpen.

I'm curious how you would suggest integrating your actions *AFTER* my images have already been sharpened in ACR. I know I need to play with the actions more, but thought you or someone else might have a good answer.

Thanks again for sharing these thumbsup.gif

Thanks for posting these. Im loving the blog one. Brings such depth to the picture. However, I can't seem to match it for full resolution. Ive tried several - but they seem to bring noice to my pictures...? Most of my pics are shot at 400 ISO, due to crappy weather smile.gif Could that be it?
