Okay... was anyone as confused about last nights show as I was!?

When it was announced before the commercial that David A was singing "Imagine", I was thinking to myself "wait a sec... for his final song he's going to sing a song he has ALREADY sung like a month ago!? Surely all of the judges will ream him out for not being able to sing 3 new songs for the final. It's like he didn't have enough time to learn 3 so he learned 2 songs and then sung a safe song at the end... ooooo I can't wait to hear what Simon says!"

Then he sings it exactly how he sung it before and the judges were using words like... "inspirational"... "you're on fire"... "it's a knockout"... "round 3 goes to Archeleta". I was dumbfounded. Cook sang amazing songs, worked the crowd, looked like he was a rockstar and did an amazing job but he got "you did a okay job but I felt you picked the wrong song for tonight." Did you hear that Simon wanted Cook to do Billie Jean!? Maybe I misheard but if not, surely he was joking.

I just went away from last night so confused.

no question my wife and i were as confused as you. can you say "jump the shark".

anyway, she thinks cook intentionally sung the way he did so he is not locked into the oppressive contract the winner will be into. also, she thinks it is rigged this year to give it to archuleta since he had a history with the show.

as for me, i wanted a mercado cook duel. but, i bet broadway is all giddy over sayesha going out 3rd.

hopefully, ai will change its format and enter into the real world instead of staged, fixed and generic presentations
the real tami
everyone who makes it that far are already in a contract for one year -

Does anyone think that people's votes really count? My guess, it's all pre-determined to keep things dramatic and for high ratings. Seriously, why was Michael Johns booted? Not because of a lack of talent. He was waaaaay more talented than Dread-Head, who by the way, forgot a lot of lyrics.

Archuleta will win because of all the teeny boppers who want him to go to their prom. Their is potential to market him way more as a teen idol than Cook. Not that Cook isn't talented, he is. But he'll be better off without the win, except for the stupid idol tour over the next year.

And I still don't think the homeless kid should have been booted in the beginning. I bet he's back next year.

On to more important things. smile.gif

I know you probably don't follow *every* show with this format but since I watch them on YouTube instead of the TV, they take much less time. If you watch Britain's Got Talent or America's Got Talent, it's *very* common for the finals to include songs you've done before. In fact, I think it's a requirement. I think ALL of the finalists did something they'd done before, just to see it. I mean, really? EVERYONE who likes David A wanted to see Imagine again, right? Isn't that why he is where he is? It's like going to a real music concert. If your favorite band did all their obscure songs, you'd be like WTF?!

You know, I dont really know what to think about American Idol any more. I really think that it is fixed. I really could care less about who wins because both of them are set for life now. Some times second place is better off then first place. Look at Katherine McFee and that skinny guy... what is his name. So either way both of them are going to be big.

I'm sooo tired of archuletta. And he spent most of last night crying! ugh! over it. Simon picked Cook to win so maybe they were all mean to him to even the voting??
Phil P
idol is lame. neither of them have especially remarkable voices, and i hate hearing good songs screwed up by showboaters. john lennon didn't need to embellish his singing to be great

Ok, good. I'm glad to hear there's people in the same boat. How on the Earth is it possible that those three judges could sit there and pick Archuletta over Cook? You have to be deaf and blind not to see this has to be fixed. I don't get worked up over this kind of thing, shows like this I usually feel are pretty stupid ("sorry, just an opinion" LOL) and I don't really watch them, but for whatever reason my wife and I got onto this one. If that show last night didn't wreak of a GIANT FIX, I don't know what else would.

And I agree with others even just looking at showmanship. Show some life kid! Cook rocks every show over the teeny bopper. Totally ridiculous.
Mark
It's a popularity contest, not a singing contest at this stage, and as Tami said they all have contracts at this point so they will all go on. The real question is who will be still standing in a year or two. Archuleta is a better singer, but Cook has more talent and will prob be this years Daughtry.

Now if we could get Lost back on track with some sense, but with the finale tomorrow i'm sure we will have way too many unanswered questions along with answers we didn't ask for...

I just went away from last night so confused.

I was gonna start a thread w/the title:
"Who's paying Randy Jackson???"
you could practically see the cash coming out of the guys pockets when he's go ON AND OOOONNNNNNN and OOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNNNN about how great that snivveling little snot sang.
Meanwhile, David Cook does AMAZING, the crowd is TOTALLY in it & going wild, and Randy says, "eh, it's ah-eye for me." SAY HUH?!?

Then they get down to Simon, and he does almost the same!! But not to that degree.
I can't stand that snivveling little teenager who can't keep his eyes open, can't move his body without looking awkward, and CAN'T ENUNCIATE a single word to save his life!!!!!

And, did you notice that David A. had a TELEPROMPTER showing him the words to the song?? I didn't see if Cook did, but he wouldn't need it.
I'm sure David A's dad got that up there for him.

Since when do they give the singers the words!?! Dred-boy could have used that a few weeks ago!

Once I heard that David A's dad got banned from rehearsal rooms for meddling too much, I was completely OVER HIM, and I was pretty close already. His dad convinced David to change words to "Stand by Me", putting in words from another song. The Fox producers kept saying NO because they'd have to pay additional royalties by putting in another song's lyrics. The dad kept pushing, Fox kept saying no, and David sang the different words, forcing Fox to pay the royalties. Then dad was banned from backstage & rehearsal rooms. The article I read said the same thing happened when that little twit was on Star Search.
Was that story just a plant by Fox to convince people that Fox & David A aren't tied at the hip???

ENOUGH!!
I don't even want to watch him win!

I don't know why the judges are so behind him, but it was clear that they were trying to sway the crowd & the voters.

I'm glad someone was thinking what we were thinking. We normally don't vote but we did last night. Took us forever to vote for Cook... all three lines were busy for the longest time. Hopefully that's a good sign.

I didn't think the judges could be bought (expecially Simon) but from what I saw last night.. something was definitely up. I wonder how much it costs to buy a judge?

I thought I was the only one who can't stand Archy. I thought Cook was incredible. I got goose bumps 10 seconds in to his first song. I thought he did much, much better than Arch.

To boot, he has the artistic bravery of rearranging songs to suit his style, and he succeeds time and time again.

Regardless of who wins Idol, I think Cook will do just fine in the biz.
