I threw a folder away a couple days ago and now I want it back

if it's still in your trash, just drag it and drop it on the desktop.

Sorry, I think it's gone.

step 1 don't save anything at this point, you may write over the data that is still there but has been flagged as available to write over.

step 2 get an external hard drive right now, run there, now!


step 3 copy the contents of this drive to the new drive.


step 4, use file salvage

step 5 swear, drink, sweat and cry while it does it's job. Hopefully you'll be able to get the files you need back

step 6 use that new external drive as a daily external backup. This happened to me 19 months ago and Im still haunted by all the work that was lost.

If you have the newest OSX then you can go back in time cant you?
Wasn't that a feature they were promoting?

(Sorry, I rarely use my mac w00t.gif did I say that?)

That feature is not until the new version of OS X coming out in Jan. It's called Time Machine
