With all the interest recently in using InDesign to design albums, etc ... we decided to check it out. After creating our first album in InDesign we haven't looked back ... we have cut our album design time in half ... literally!
Being a graphic designer by education I decided to go ahead and create templates for other photographers who didn't want to take the hours of time it takes to design the templates.
So I went through all the template designs out there and chose what I felt to be the top 65 spread designs (if you are like me, you would rather have 65 awesome designs than having to wade through 500 to find the top 30 you use for the album)
I also created videos that show you how to use InDesign ... not only to be able to best utilize the templates but also how to customize the templates, create your own etc.
I have made them available on our website: www.benharrisonphotography.com ... just click on "photographers resources" and you can see the sweet goodness!!!
I am offering a discount for the first two weeks of the release ... just enter earlybirdgetstheworm in the shopping cart and you will get $50 off
*the discount code ends may 31 so if you are interested act quickly
after the early bird discount expires there will also be an OSP only discount of 15% by entering the code OSP15OFF

Question for you-I use Graphistudio and their spread size for a 10x10 book are not exactly 10x20 but slightly different, like 10"x20.16". I think this is because they are converting from metric.
Would it be easy enough for me to drop your 10x10 layouts into my Graphi slightly different size inDesign spreads? I am assuming so since that is similar to what I currently do with pages I have previously designed, but just want to make sure. Or maybe I could change each template to the graphi size and do a "save as" graphi set of templates?
Thanks!

vanessa,
you could easily plop the templates into any size layout you wanted and just use the scale tool in InDesign to make them fit. In all honesty, if the graphi size is 10x20.16 they will probably still fit without adjustments because of the bleed I used when designing them (most of the frames/backgrounds go around 1/8" over the edges).
the videos cover how to do the scaling, etc if you are unfamiliar with that tool ... its really a simple fix ... and I also cover how to save your own sets of templates. In our studio we have several different sets of templates we have created from the original templates ... we often find that we use a lot of the same templates in the same spots in albums ... so we essentially have sets of pre-designed albums that are ready to just plop the images into. Let me know if that didn't make sense ... I used the words sets and templates too much in that paragraph:)
thanks for the interest!

Thanks, Ben. That helps me!
I literally do not know anything more about inDesign than what is in Kevin Swan's tutorial!
It sounds like I could learn tons from your tutorials too!
Fabulous job on Bethany Dillon's wedding, BTW!

Hey Ben,
I looked over the examples, watched your video... and was really impressed! Normally I'd spend the time to create my own templates but you've done a great job, so I'm just going to buy yours!
clicking the {buy now} button, thanks for the discount!

Hey Ben - maybe it's just me and my computer but when I open the template folders for the various sizes I don't have the black/white folders but instead a file that I can't open titled .DS_Store
Please help! I have a PC (not mac) so maybe this is the problem??? I have CS3. Am I missing a step?
Anyone else with a PC using these templates?
