I am really considering offering my clients Queensberry albums. From the website they look so great. But I am OVERWHELMED by all of the options. Definitely the opposite of KISS. Anyway, does anyone use them? What are your thoughts about Queensberry? Is it difficult to sell these albums because of the many options or do your clients like all of the options?

Katie,

I saw them at WPPI and they are gorgeous albums. Some of the most beautiful I've ever seen, but they are also very expensive. I was considering going with them because I love the option to have matted and flushmount pages in the same book, but them Leather Craftsmen who I already use and LOVE came out with their signature series 8500 at WPPI that also has has mat and flush pages in the same book and won me over. These are just gorgeous as well.

Good Luck!!

Thanks Shawn!

It is really good to hear that they are gorgeous in person--because the images on the website look so great. I looked at the price list and they definitely are pricey though. Choices, choices...so many choices...

QB is one of the most expensive albums out there. But you absolutely get what you pay for. You just have to price it accordingly - definietly not for the bottom-middle market and lower.

They are truely and heirloom quality and the attention to detial is second to none. I honestly worry about some of the albums being sold these days and wonder what condition they will be in 20 years. And yes, that does matter to me even though I will probably be long forgotten by then. I don't even think twice about QB.

They do have a lot of options. We control this by offering only the flushmount style. Then we simply let the b/g go through the swatch book to pick a cover material and a motif for the cover image.

You also have to purchase a kit from them, before you can place your orders - I think it's $500? But yes, they are amazing. The Mercedes Benz of albums.

We offer them and absolutely love them. I genuinely feel like we are giving our clients an EXCEPTIONAL product and I don't worry at all about if they'll stay in good condition, etc. Plus our rep at Queensberry is easy to work with when we have questions, etc. You definitely get what you pay for, and if you can afford to offer these, we couldn't recommend them more highly! smile.gif

hahahahhaha

I have never used them - im very very new to the biz... but i am originally from NZ and was back there recently to see the family and decided to just pop in and see QB while I was in the area to check out the albums up close and personal.

If only you guys could only see where these are being produced - the area, the building hahahah definitely not where you would "picture" the heirloom quality mercedes benz of albums being produced.. LOL

they were a little ahh... ummm.... shocked that a photog just dropped in - that dont have a showroom - or any samples ready on display for that matter - but they very kindly answered all my questions and showed me the production line and an album that they had just fiished but not sent out yet ( i tried not to put any finger prints on it )

From all the comments above - these are awesome albums - i just saw some humor in the situation - just wish i had my camera on me so i could post some pics

the thing that did put me off was having to use their design software - anyone want to fill me on if it is any good? or how you implement it into your workflow?

keep on buying kiwi made!!!

I have a Queensberry as the wedding album from my own wedding and I just have to say it is GORGEOUS!! Ridiculously and absolutely gorgeous. I kind of gasped the first time I saw it, seriously. smile.gif

I have a matted album with metallic prints and I think it's much more "classic" than a flushmount, but that's just my take. I wouldn't trade it for anything. I think if you clients can afford it then go for it!

I started my business using Queensberry albums and before long I realised the sense in only using them in my top packages (unless you are $$ to start with)

We have had about half a dozen albums back and we love them! We don't really have a lot of album choices here in OZ, and we love QBY because they really set our business apart with their quality (some vendors at a recent expo used cheap Walmart style slip-in albums..!!)

One of the things I dont like about them is the gutter in the middle of the pages. Even with a digital layout - full edge to edge printing there is a fine strip down the middle - so its different to the KISS'es.

What we do love is the quality! omg the quality rocks!! We also love the pagemount system - a very unique way of presenting the albums.

Our style is more simple, clean album layouts - (no hardcore photoshopped layouts) which we love to do and fits our style.

We find Photojunction (we are not using the remix beta version) very easy to use and we can design whole albums and output them for clients very quickly!

Id wholeheartedly recommend them.

We have the print-ready service, where we are responsible for the design, and colour correction of our own images and we send them off to them - they print it, put it together and even send it out to the clients if we want them to.
