I think your albums are great! and the photography is even better. I've seen many albums with great pictures, but too much going on with the design. So much that it takes away from the photos themselves. As a graphic designer I've done the albums with crazy frames and elements and after seeing your albums I realize it is totally unnecessary.

After seeing some of your albums, I've designed a parents book for a couple with a neat approach. They are not my photos, but it's my design. albums design

I was also wondering if while you're shooting a wedding, do you shoot with the album design in mind. Like thinking about what pictures and compositions would work best in an album?

Sorry for so many questions, but also, what company(s) do you use to bind the books?
Becky Waurio
These are awesome! I think I really enjoy every album design of yours that I have seen.

*in awe face* (they should make one of those)

i really like your parent's book - they will really love it, too - which is what is important.

i do shoot with the album in mind, but, i don't shoot for the album. the image has to stand on it's own. i'm an old lady, and have decided that i shoot for myself, and i do the album for myself. then, the client can choose the pages they want, add, delete, or change the book. once it's posted for the client, it's no longer my book - it's theirs. they have to love it.

i think the photography has to come first. crappy photographs in a great design, still look crappy (and the opposite is true, too.)

my Signature Book is a 10x10 Montage Art book from Art Leather. We also use Leather Craftsmen, Zookbinders, Asukabook (for guest books) and notworthy.gif Queensberry.
i start with a 10x10 design, unless the client knows before i begin the design that they want a different size.

hope that helps!

and thanks for checking them out! i know it takes a lot of time to go through all of them!

Fantastic work as always Robin. I spent some OSP downtime looking at your albums so if you see an ISP from Starband in your logs that is me smile.gif Your designs are great; elegant and simple with no real busy spreads. It really complements your photography.

Here is the thread with my album, thanks again for the inspiration:

Very nice indeed Robin.

The spreads are simple, easy to follow, and the images work together well.

Cheers,

Kenneth + Elaine
