Hello all my fellow OSPers!!!

Nice to meet you all!! I'm so excited to be finally able to post a message (I waited for 2 weeks!) And have been religiously reading this forum everyday...it's an awesome place!!!

Thanks everyone for putting lots of great info and ideas. It really motivating for amateur photographer like myself.

I am planning to get myself a D300 but not quite sure which lens to start off with and slowly becoming a profressional wedding/lifestyle photograher.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated!!!

Hi Olivia,

Welcome! smile.gif Im in Perth, but I lived in Melbourne and assisted for about 3yrs... I would seriously consider cold calling some photographers whose work you like, and see if you can work for them... thats what I did and how I always got my work smile.gif

See you around

Hi Kellie!

Yes I've been on your intro thread a few weeks ago already and have emailed Karen (emeraldeye) about the course that she is running smile.gif I like her work!!!!

This is the first photography forum I found and I'm hooked on it already! Nonetheless, everyone here are so nice and friendly!!! There is no need to look elsewhere to speak to photographers! What made you start in photography?? I've been stuck in an office for 3yrs and thought it was ENOUGH. I don't want to have my life like that forever. I want to be able to meet new people, work in different environment all the time, love what i do....I'm still a bit scared to take this step but i know it will be the best for me!

But hey! Maybe we can work together someday?! what ya think? lemme know when u come down to melb! smile.gif

cheers,Olivia

oh wow!!!! I was thinking if i should take some kind of (short) course before doing this cold calling?? Is reading books, forum, online stuff, and loads of practise suffice?? Or is taking a course much worthwhile? You see, I did a business/IT degree at uni for 5yrs (dont ask me why and how i survived!!!) so going back to school again and to keep my current job for income seem a bit daunting!!!

Looks like I need to contact this guy who's been taking you girls as assistants!! Who is he?! biggrin.gif
