hey ya'll..

is the price difference in the 50mm nikkor 1.2 and the 1.4 worth $250+ for???

any differences in the two lens beyond that stop? is it worth it for weddings and portraits??

If I'm not mistaken it's not being produced any more so that may drive up the price. The other thing to consider for weddings is that it is a manual focus lens.


ETA: Per the Nikon website it is only available on special order.

I think you mean the 1.4 and the 1.8, Nikon does not have a 1.2 unless this just came out. But yes the 1.4 is worth it over the 1.8 for sure. Compare it to the cost of the 85 1.4 and you really are getting a nice lens for the money.

Yeah, there is a Nikkor 50/1.2 -- it's an AIS lens (manual focus). As Vidish pointed out, it's available via special order and you can find them from time to time used. It's a lot of cash for half a stop and losing AF, but I suppose there's a market for it.

Maybe they'll release an AF-S VR version sometime.

Nikon does in fact make the 50 mm 1.2. But it is a manual lens. I had the lens before, but i prefer the autofocus feature.
