Slightly timid couple - didn't converse with each other easily - unnerved her when I was in close shooting - she didn't like pictures showing her teeth or when smiling - she was taller than him and getting a balance with his smaller frame was a challenge - she was shivering from the cold - they were static with their poses and body positioning . . .

. . . but I worked and worked them and managed to rattle off over 500 shots in the hour and a half I had with them. Resulting a beautiful series that will easily provide the 50 final images that I require for their Love Story Set. Here are a few:

Robert..these are gorgeous. I really love the sepia toned one in the cafe, but they are all lovely.

I think they turned out great! Your coaching paid off with some great images!

These are really VERY cool! It's almost like you weren't there, like a sneak peek into their fun filled day about town. I wish I had images like these. Very inspiring! I would NEVER have know she was taller!

I love them all except #2. Her face looks different compared to the others... I can't put my finger on it, but she just looks off... maybe an odd expression.

Lovely work, as always. I look forward to your posts. You would never know the challenges you faced!

Number 3 and 8 are my favorites, perhaps because they look so at ease.

I would NEVER have know she was taller!

Just a couple of inches taller than him (with flat shoes). His having fine features and a slim build was maybe even more of a challenge. I always placed him on the high side of the street or slopes. Different camera angles including low ones from the side closest to him, helped with a lot of images. When I used to go to Mr Olympia contests back in the 70's there was a 5'2" guy Danny Padilla who looked huge on stage and matched the height of the taller guys, by standing closer to the audience on the stage. I used the same type of positioning in some of these shots where he is closer to the camera to balance their size out. Having them tip in to each other with their hands resting on rails, walls, tables and ground worked well. Of course, sitting is always a great equalizer as there is less difference in height from the waist up - and then they can easily tip in to further equalize the difference by resting their hands on the chair behind the other one, or resting an arm on a table. I just had to be conscious of it in every setting, and use my bag of tricks to compensate.

Thanks for all the nice comments

You did an amazing job despite all of the challenges! I really love them running down the street and the cafe shots. Beautiful!

Beautiful work Robert. Having to work with shy/timid/difficult clients and still being able to get good images is the sign of a real pro. Nice job!
