you can run macjanitor on it. You should find it in your applications folder, if not I know it is a free download. It gets rid of the junk in your computer and helps mine run a little smoother. You may want to empty your trash can too. I know I let mine get pretty full before I think about emptying it.

Thanks! I'll try that. I do constantly empty the trash and its not helping, but hopefully the macjanitor will do it. Thank you!

Macs don't need to be defragged. That's one of the many perks of using an operating system that uses a real filesystem as opposed to ntfs. Define what you mean by running slow...

Close all of your running programs. Empty trash. In your Applications - Utilities folder, open Disk Utility. Click on Harddrive in the left window, and then click "Repair Disk Permissions". DO NOT CLICK REPAIR DISK! Only Disk Permissions. This is one of the first things I try when repairing computers at work. When it's finished, reboot your laptop.

Let me know if that helps any or not.

Also, the more you have on your Desktop, the more you'll slow down. Having a bunch of icons and folders on your desktop makes the computer work harder. Put everything in Documents and then create an Alias of that folder on your desktop for easy access.

Thanks Beth, I did what you said, we'll see if it works. I dont have anything on my desk top, so its not that. The computer is still way faster than my PC, its just that it doesnt seem as fast as when I first got it. it actually froze up on me at a wedding a couple of weeks ago when I was trying to download pictures on to it. I keep getting the spinning wheel when I am in photoshop. Thanks for your help!
