Looks like you've got a good set of lenses there already.
Just give the $3K to me. smile.gif
I'll find a good use for it!

ok, if you don't want to let me spend it instead...
I'd think about investing in some cool off-camera lighting.
That's what I would spend it on at least.

Or, so you have the 16-35 L wide angle? I've heard that's a sweet lens w/little distortion, even at 16mm.

You read my mind! Mama needs a 5D!

LOL, all these huge fans of 5D's and I question it every time I pick it up...lol j/k

I have a lot of off camera lighting too...didn't want to list everything in my arsenal...lol I have pocketwizards, 285hv's, SB-28 (getting more of these probably) and Alien Bee B800.

Um..... you've got quite a nice lineup.

I'd go for lighting, pocketwizards, something like that. But if you want lenses, what about the 85 1.2 or the 24mm?

ETA - we must have been typing at the same time. If you already have pocketwizards and lighting, then I got nuthin'. smile.gif

Have you ever tried an 85 1.2 on a 5D in low-light? OMG it sucks! lol Well, I shouldn't say that, what I mean is that the camera will track, and track, and track...........................................................................
................................................................................
................................................................................
................................................................................
......................and track...well, you get it. I tried it last weekend at a wedding that was candle lit outside and I couldn't hardly get it to lock-on to people slow dancing.

HAHa, yeah, i personally don't like it, but I've also been told i'm not in the norm on that. I was just trying to think for you since you already have a great setup. If it were me, I would be taking that $3k to Hawaii before I would just shop to shop! wink.gif

Good point...although I am scared to fly! lol

85mm f/1.8
24mm f/1.4L
35mm f/1.4L

That should get you there.

You have plenty of equipment. Your business is an investment; where will investing your money make you the best return? Another lens? I highly doubt that would be a good return. BTW, I'm not against getting equipment you NEED but you don't sound like you really NEED anything, you just want to spend the money, right?

I know 'toys' are more fun but you should spend it on either more photographic education or on marketing. My favorite images lately have been from my $100 Canonet so, yet again, it goes to show that equipment really is secondary to what you can do with it. Then comes finding the market to sell to (which is why my second suggestion is spending it on marketing).
To this day, I've still spent more on my education that on 4 years of my business.

sound advice - i just wasted a bunch of money on a lens i did not need. i should have put it towards a business seminar or something along those lines.

the 135L f/2 lens is a beautiful portrait lens, especially on 5D. It is so sharp, you will love it! I purchased mine last year at B+H for about $900

I agree that lenses might not be the best use of your money, given your current list. If anything I would change out the 50mm 1.8 with the 50mm 1.2L.

Thanks everyone for the sound advice!!! I agree.

So, thank you, I will look into more specialized workshops and marketing. I really didn't want to market but I might.

Toys are fun too wink.gif

I LOVE my 85 1.2 - its gorgeous on my mark 3

I also am in love with my 24 1.4 - the images aren't comparable to any other lens

I am going to buy a 50 1.2 asap - i know you have the 1.4.... but it IS L =)

also the 14 2.8 is an amazing lens... you should look into that. it has weather sealing and everything, i LOVE that lens!

good luck!
