Full Version: Two songs in one Showit show

I know that you can make a two-song slideshow, and I assume that you need to create one mp3 file out of the two songs and then upload that file into showit. So, does anyone know of any good (prefarably free) software I can use to edit my mp3's? Also, do you have any tips on how to do it quickly and effectively?

Thanks, gang!

Garageband works great, is super easy, and comes for free if you're on a mac. I don't know about a pc alternative.

Thanks, Shawn. Unfortunately, we are in PC-land up here in the NW. But I'll check out whether or not I can get Garageband for the PC. I appreciate the recommendation!

Hey Airika,

Maybe try Audacity. I've heard from some PC users that they use it and it works well.

MikeWarren
we use audacity on the PC.

Thanks, Shawn & Mike. I will check out Audacity!

Hi Airika,

I used this one.. It's free : mp3merge
Kari
I did it with audacity. I downloaded it, made one mp3 file and used that in show it. I followed Matt's tutorial, but that is gone now. sad.gif

99% of my tutorials are still on CutFrame.tv which I suggest people use whenever possible - it's a great resource!

I've spliced the songs together, but I can't seem to export them as mp3. It keeps telling me to download something and then my computer won't open that type of file. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Hi, Airika,

Hmmm, I don't know about that error message. It's way simpler than all the fading that Matt was doing in the tutorial.

1 - Drag and drop the 2 songs into Audacity (or you can Open both songs)
2 - Select the whole 2nd song and Copy
3 - Go to the 1st song, just as it fades out and Paste in the 2nd song.
4 - Close out the 2nd song
5 - Export the combined song as MP3.

I don't know if that helps any.

I figured out the Audacity thing. Thanks Matt for your tutorial! It helped alot, butthe only thing is, like Airika was saying is that it only let's you save as a WAV file, not an MP3...then when I take it into iTunes, I can convert it, but it doesn't show up in my iTunes file where I find all my other ones I have converted...Ready to pull my hair out of my head...
Also, Matt or DJ do you have a tutorial where you can pause your first photo in Showit, so the music starts at the same time (instead of the fade in or pause in the music?)
I hate that the slideshow starts before the music!

thanks for any help!

Guys you need to install the LAME codec on your computer. MP3 is a proprietary(sp) compression scheme. You can download it here. Then you have to point audacity to the location of Lame.exe. Hope that helps!

Chris was just trying to figure this out after our last wedding. I will have to have him come check out this thread! Thanks guys!

Thanks for the info and the download link, Bryce. I actually ended up finding the MP3 file, that I changed over in iTunes after saving it as a WAV file in Audacity... I followed DJ's instructions that I printed out to make MP3 files.
I'm not sure where I got them, but I could copy them if anyone is interested.
thanks everybody!
