I was on Smart FTP but I do not think they have that for the macster.
I would prefer something that does an auto re-connect.
Thanks!

Hi Rich, I currently use Cyberduck and I am really happy with it. What are the benefits you saw of Transmit vs. Cyberduck?

They all work well. Cyberduck is good and free... woohoo. But I think the interface of Transmit and it's options are worth the $29 so that is what I use. Just an FYI for you PhotoMechanic users it has a great interface and FTP built in. I often just use that to upload images depending on the end use.

I use Yummy FTP. I think it is the best! Check it out the comparison between Yummy FTP and the rest:
http://www.yummysoftware.com/Product-InformationIt has very nice feature droplets. You drag-and-drop anything you want to transfer to your FTP server and it will connect, transfer and disconnect automatically.

Transmit just works more like Mac Finder than Cyberduck. I kept getting confused when dragging files to Cyberduck. If I dragged it to a folder, I expect it to go into the folder. Cyberduck would put it on the same level as the folder I dragged it to. And creating new folders was a little confusing too. Column view in Transmit is worth the price by itself.
And since I do coding every once in a while, I loved that I could edit the file while on-line. With Cyberduck, you'd have to download it, edit it, re-upload it. Also, with Cyberduck, if you dragged some files that were online to another directory that is also on-line, it would have to download it to your computer and then reupload it to that particular folder. Hopefully they fixed that. Transmit will just move them like its supposed to.
Although it's a little slow with full res pics, you can preview files online as well.
I just found too many features I liked better than Cyberduck that was worth spending the $29.
They have a clean list of other features it has
here.

Transmit is my favorite.
I can put a shortcut to my site folder on my desktop and just drag files to it.
Transmit connects, uploads the files and then disconnects.

Transmit all the way. No other FTP program on the Mac integrates into the OS and other applications as well as it does. I love that you can right click and edit with your preferred program just like on the OS. And let's not forget the favorites feature, that rocks.
Cyberduck is for me a close second, it's Open Source (i.e. Free) and great to quickly download in a pinch if you're not on your computer.

i tried cyberduck when i got the new computer...i wanted to use a cool mac program...but...it was totally unintuitive for me. i went back to filezilla...it makes perfect sense, it's free, and it's available for both platforms. (ie...i could upload from desk job on PC, too.)
i felt the same way about mail and safari...i WANTED to like them better than thunderbird and firefox...but...i don't.

I use Transmit all of the time. By far my favorite FTP app.
I am surprised no one has mentioned using FireFTP plugin for Firefox. It works on both platforms Mac/PC very well and is FREE.
