I am trying to help my client make her own jewel case inserts with two of the photos from her sons session. This will be a party favor at the Bar Mitzvah that will be a cd of favorite music. I cannot seem to find an easy way to do it ourselves. Any good ideas such as templates or kits...for example, Avery? Any ideas?

Lisa,

Well, my favorite trick is to use google.

I typed this:

cd jewel case insert photoshop

And got this:

Of course these aren't much help if you are needing assistance in graphic design.

Is this the sort of help you were looking for?

these come with really nice jewel cases

templates for designing in indesign, illustrator, or photoshop.

and comes with prepurferated inserts to print on.

Everything you need except the actual CD.

I use these for all my non-wedding DVD deliveries.

How many do you need?

If it were me and I needed 24-75ish, I'd do 5x7 folded greeting cards from Mpix or whcc & trim them down to 4.75in square with a paper trimmer. Or you could do 5x7 postcards and trim them down.
folded if you want to make it a folded insert, postcard if you just want it double-sided.

I guess you could do 5x5 from whcc, too. Mpix doesn't do 5x5s, and I can't remember how the prices comare for 5x7s.
Mpix: no extra charge for pearl
WHCC: free shipping
depends on how many & what paper you want I guess.

Gotprint.net does CD jewel case inserts, but I think the minimum number is something BIG, and they're on flimsy gloss paper instead of card stock (the CD insert on the CD you got from me is from GotPrint)

Thanks Bill and John. Bill, I Googled but I didn't add Photoshop and I can see that made a difference. I will look into them. John, I TOTALLY forgot about Jewelboxing, I need to remember that for future!

Hey Carey, this is something I am trying to help a client with. This is for a Bar Mitzvah party favor and she needs about 150-200. I offered to print them for her but she thought it would be good to print them herself using Avery templates. I would just need to design the template for her. I just kept thinking there has got to be a more efficient way and that wouldn't cost her a fortune. Did you switch to Gotprint after we saw you? The disc was in a gorgeous leather case.
If I print using WHCC or Mpix would that allow for a spine label? I tried to talk her out of having one but I think she really would like there to be one.

Hey Lisa!

Carey turned me on to GotPrint quite a while ago - and I love them! If your friend is printing around 200, I sure hope she's not doing them on her inkjet at home!

Going with GotPrint would surely be the most efficient (what is your/her time worth???) and CLASSIEST way to go. We print all P2C materials there.

Just my $0.02.

the gotprint CD insert was stuck to the inside of your leather case. It's a jewel case insert that I put inside the JLee CD cases for "bigger spenders" wink.gif and I put them in a slim jewel cases from ULine for the rest.
